Tom Blicher is in his ninth year as the operations manager for the Joyce Center, having been promoted to the post in 2000. On August 26, 2009, he added the title of Joyce Center interim general manager, following the retirement of longtime assistant athletics director Brian Boulac.

Blicher spent the previous 11 years as the senior sound technician for the Notre Dame athletic department. In his current position, he oversees the technical services department, as well as the maintenance and set-up crew, the athletic department graphic artist and the receiving clerk.

During his tenure in the technical services department, Blicher helped design and install sound systems throughout the athletic department. These projects included the Joyce Center Arena & Fieldhouse (north and south domes), Monogram Room, Rolfs Aquatic Center, Rolfs Sports Recreation Center (RecSports), Eck Baseball Stadium and the 1997 renovation of Notre Dame Stadium.

Previously, Blicher had worked with Stagehand Local in the Joyce Center on many visiting entertainment acts. Some of these performances included: Elvis Presley, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Petula Clark, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Bill Cosby, The Eagles, The Jackson Five, Kenny Rogers, KISS, Ice Capades and Disney on Parade.

Born March 22, 1950, in Jackson, Mich., Blicher is married to the former Cynthia Freeman, a native of Union Mills, Ind. Cynthia is a 1973 graduate of Purdue and a 1989 graduate of Indiana University-South Bend with a master's degree in education. The couple has two daughters: LeeAndra, a 2002 Purdue graduate and Ashlee, a 2007 graduate of IU-South Bend.
