Sean Carroll is in his ninth year in the Notre Dame media relations office, and his seventh as assistant media relations director. In that position, he serves as the primary contact for the Fighting Irish men's soccer and men's lacrosse teams and also is the secondary contact for the Notre Dame men's basketball program along with helping with the day-to-day operations of the office. In addition, he was the media coordinator for the 2009 and 2010 NCAA women's basketball tournament first- and second-round games hosted at Notre Dame's Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
Carroll entered the sports information field as a volunteer in the Bethel College (Mishawaka, Ind.) athletic department during the 2002-03 academic year. Prior to his arrival at Notre Dame, Carroll spent one year as a media relations staff assistant at the University at Albany (N.Y.). There, Carroll was the primary contact for the Great Danes' men's and women's soccer, men's and women's track & field, and baseball programs.
A native of Lakeville, Ind., Carroll graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a second concentration in political science. At Indiana, he worked as a sports anchor for the student-produced news program on WTIU-TV in Bloomington. He was born August 13, 1979, in Mishawaka, Ind.
Carroll married the former Jennifer Swisher on June 26, 2010. The couple currently resides in Granger, Ind.
