Karen Demeter enters her 16th year with the University of Notre Dame and her third year as the Corporate Relations & Monogram Club Coordinator. She started working the Notre Dame Career Center when she arrived at Notre Dame in 1999.
In her current role, Demeter serves as the assistant to deputy athletics director, Jim Fraleigh, providing support related to the ticket, marketing and business development, commercial and marketing efforts and the men's basketball program. She assists the deputy athletics director with organization, planning, research and meeting preparation and communication related to corporate sponsors. She serves as the liaison for the deputy athletics director for internal and external sources and manages the director's calendar and travel. In addition, she is responsible for coordinating and organizing special events both on and off campus.
In addition to her corporate relations duties, Demeter also serves as the Monogram Club coordinator. Her responsibilities with the Monogram Club include planning and coordinating game day and Shamrock Series receptions, assisting the Monogram Club staff with Monogram member requests, preparation and assistance with Monogram Club Board meetings and special events. Demeter also serves as the administrative assistant to associate athletics director, Beth Hunter.
Demeter is a native of Copley, Ohio and worked for the Notre Dame Football program for 11 years. In 2000, Demeter was hired as a senior staff assistant for football. In 2001 she was promoted to the football recruiting office where she assisted the coaching staff and recruiting coordinator with all recruiting efforts. From May 2003 until August 2009, Demeter served as the senior administrative assistant for two head football coaches. As the senior administrative assistant to the head football coach, she maintained the head coach's schedule, coordinated speaking and public events, acted as a liaison between the head coach and internal and external sources and managed travel arrangements and correspondence for the head coach. During the 2010 and 2011 football seasons, Demeter served as the recruiting services coordinator assisting the director of football personnel and recruiting coordinator with recruiting efforts.
In 2008, Demeter completed the Supervising with Impact Series offered by the Mendoza College of Business Executive Education Program and Notre Dame Office of Human Relations. She also attended Ivy Tech Community College.
Demeter is married to Darryl Demeter and the couple has two children - Jocelyn who graduated from St. Mary's College in 2006, and Lauren, who graduated from Notre Dame in 2010.
