John Harness, who has been a member of the University of Notre Dame staff since 1990, is the crew maintenance leader and pool operator at the Rockne Memorial Building.
Harness, who is a native of Walkerton Ind., worked for J.A. Wagner Construction based out of Elkhart, Ind. before he arrived at Notre Dame. Harness also played minor league baseball as well as college baseball at Arkansas State University.
Harness, who currently lives in North Liberty Ind., is married to Suzie Harness. The couple has three children, Katie who teachers in South Bend, Becky who attends Bethel College, and Billy who is in the sixth grade at North Liberty Elementary. Harness is an avid fan of baseball, football, and basketball and enjoys watching Notre Dame Football, the Chicago Cubs and the college baseball world series. Harness also is a fan of John Glenn. Additionally, Harness enjoys coaching and watching his son play baseball, basketball, and football.
