Susan McGonigal, who has been a member of the University of Notre Dame staff for 35 years, is in her 34th season in the media relations office and 19th as senior administrative assistant.
McGonigal serves as the assistant to John Heisler, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Media and Broadcast Relations. Her duties primarily center on media credential issuance for football and basketball; football game day media will call operations along with sideline security; ticket allotment distribution; budget reconciliation; all travel and catering needs for the staff of the department as well as special projects for the director.
McGonigal was awarded an Honorary Monogram from the Notre Dame National Monogram Club in April of 2009. In April of 2011 she completed training to become a Certified TravelND Specialist.
McGonigal is a former Vice President of the Notre Dame Staff Advisory Council and was a member of that council for over six years while serving on the Ad Hoc Committee on Women's Issues, Benefits Committee and Promotions Committee. She was also a member of the Athletic Department Safety Committee as well as a member of the Athletic Department Holiday Planning Committee.
A native of South Bend, Ind., she is married to Sean McGonigal and the couple are the proud parents of a daughter, Chelsea Reed McGonigal.
