Kathleen Murphy is in her second year as business manager in the Notre Dame athletics department. In her role as business manager, she ensures the accountability of all revenues and expenses for the department in accordance with University and NCAA regulations, including financial analysis, reporting and budget overview. She previously served as the manager for charitable trusts and pension funds at the University of Notre Dame for 10 years where she was responsible for all functions related to the accounting and reporting of the University's split interest and pension funds.
Prior to coming to Notre Dame, Murphy worked for Crowe Horwath, LLP in Elkhart, Ind., from 1993-2000. While there, she worked as a staff accountant before being promoted to tax engagement manager, which she held from 1998-2000.
A 1975 graduate of Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, Ind.) with a bachelor's degree in business administration and concentration in accountancy, Murphy attended the University of Michigan Executive Program in Bank Management in 1979 and 1980. She became a certified accountant and licensed within the state of Indiana in 1981 and enrolled in the American Institute of CPAs Tax Education Program at the University of Illinois from 1994-1997.
Murphy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society. She is married to Michael C Murphy, a 1975 Notre Dame undergraduate and 1979 Notre Dame Law School graduate. They have three sons Kevin, Brian and Patrick Francis and a yellow Labrador retriever named Duffy.
