Jim Smith is in his first year as a member of the Notre Dame athletics facilities staff and serves as the program manager for crowd control. Prior to taking on this position, Smith was the president of Trucker's Help Inc., a company that provides legalization service to the transportation industry. He has also been working at Notre Dame since 1994 as the assistant coordinator of stadium personnel and a Joyce Center usher supervisor.
Smith graduated from Indiana University-South Bend in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in criminology. Smith has received certifications from the Play Like a Champion Today Training Series, Maryland State Fire Marshal's Crowd Managers Training Program, American Red Cross, and NRA.
In his free time Smith is an active member of his church, the Knights of Columbus, and Boy Scout Troop 750.
