Kathy Speybroeck is in her 20th year as a member of the Notre Dame Athletics Department staff, her 15th on the Athletics Equipment Staff, and 8th year in her current position as the Head Equipment Manager for Varsity Sports. At present, she and her staff work very closely with our primary outfitter, Adidas, to fulfill the needs of our 26 varsity sports (excluding football and hockey), cheerleading and various auxiliary groups within the Athletic Department.
Speybroeck began her tenure at Notre Dame as an assistant softball coach during the program's formative years from 1992-97. She then moved to the administrative side of the department as an Assistant Equipment Manager from 1997-2003 before being elevated to her current role. In 2011 she was awarded with an honorary Notre Dame Monogram for her services and dedication to her work at Notre Dame.
Prior to coming to Notre Dame, Speybroeck served as the Head Softball Coach at South Bend St. Joseph's High School in 1991-92 and led the team to a sectional title that season.
A four-year softball letter winner at Indiana University from 1978-82, Speybroeck was also a member of the IU junior varsity women's basketball team in 1978 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation- Leadership and Programming from the University.
A native of Scranton, Pa., Speybroeck and her husband Joe (also an honorary ND Monogram recipient as one of the pioneers of Notre Dame Softball) make their home in South Bend.
