Stan Wilcox is in his third year as a deputy director of athletics at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame. A former Irish basketball letter-winner, Wilcox returned to Notre Dame in July of 2005 after serving 11 years as associate commissioner of the BIG EAST Conference.

Wilcox works with the Irish football squad on a daily basis from an administrative standpoint, working in concert with athletics director Kevin White in that regard. He also has administrative oversight for the areas of RecSports (intramural and club sports), strength and conditioning, game management and athletic training. He also serves as the liaison with the University's Faculty Board on Athletics and is the department's primary liaison with bowl officials. In addition, other Olympic sports report to him, including men's tennis, softball and women's soccer.

At the BIG EAST, Wilcox was responsible for all of the conference's NCAA governance, legislative, enforcement and compliance services. He created and implemented comprehensive programs that included various NCAA compliance services, rules interpretation, education, enforcement, gender equity, minority equity and student-athlete welfare service programs.

The BIG EAST representative to the NCAA Management Council from 2000-05, Wilcox served on the Management Council subcommittees on incentives and disincentives, governance, nominations and the task force to review the NCAA's one-time transfer exception rule. He served on the NCAA recruiting task force and the basketball issues committee. For the BIG EAST, he served as staff liaison to league equity, legislation, student-athlete advisory, faculty athletics representatives, legal counsel and compliance coordinators committees - and was recording secretary for the BIG EAST Presidents Committee. In 2001-02 he received the National Association of Athletics Compliance Coordinators Outstanding Achievement Award.

Wilcox is the immediate past president of the Black Coaches Association (BCA) - having served as president from June 2003 to June 2005 and spending 11 years overall on the BCA board of directors.

Before coming to the BIG EAST, Wilcox worked as a legislative assistant at the NCAA from 1989 through 1994 - drafting and finalizing agendas, minutes and reports for various NCAA governing bodies and committees. He handled rules compliance presentations for various Division I, II and III conferences, institutions and coaches' associations, as well as daily rules interpretations for a variety of constituents. At the NCAA, he served a recording secretary for the NCAA Council and Division I Steering Committee, as well as the staff liaison to the Council Subcommittee on Initial-Eligibility Waivers, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Administrative Review Panel.

Wilcox previously worked as a senior court analyst for the King County Supreme Court in Brooklyn, N.Y., from 1982 through 1989. He prepared various criminal and civil statistical analyses for the head administrative judge and also prepared criminal caseload reports and other functions. An account executive from 1981 to '82 for Serres, Visones & Rice Insurance in New York City, he processed insurance claims and assisted in servicing clients and soliciting new business. A 1981 Notre Dame graduate with a degree in economics, Wilcox went on to earn a juris doctor degree in 1988 from the Brooklyn Law School. He's a member of the New York State Bar Association.

A 6-3 guard from North Babylon, N.Y., for the Irish from 1977-78 through 1980-81, Wilcox was a freshman on Notre Dame's 1978 team that played in the NCAA Final Four in St. Louis. He played in 100 career games with the Irish - and helped Notre Dame to the NCAA Tournament each of his four seasons (including six postseason wins) and a combined record of 92-26. Born March 22, 1959, Wilcox is married to the former Ramona Harrell.
