Kansas State senior Yana Dorodnova was one of 11 unseeded players to reach the round of 16 and one of four non-seeds to advance to Wednesday's quarterfinals. Dorodnova beat Northwestern's Katherine Nasser (2-6, 6-0, 6-4) and Wisconsin's Barbara Urbanska (6-3, 6-3) in Tuesday's action.

Florida junior Stephanie Nickitas nearly upset #1 seed Mirela Vladulescu of Alabama-Birmingham, dropping a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 match after serving for the win in the third set (5-4) and owning one match point (Vladulescu fought off four match points in the first round.

Duke's Vanessa Webb (left) and Karen Rothstein lived up to their #2 seeding with a 7-5, 6-3 win over UAB's Mirela Vladulescu and Paula Briggs. Webb was one of nine players to log three matches Tuesday and one of four who won two singles matches and the ensuing doubles action.
