Postmatch Quotes
Texas Head Coach Jeff Moore
On the Florida Gators:
"Florida came in here today ready
to play. They are a very disciplined group that does not get
flustered by missed opportunities. They executed on a more
consistent basis than we did today. "
On Florida's number four and five players Whitney Laiho and
Stephanie Hazlett:
"They are two of the top recruits in
there respected classes. Laiho should still be a high school
senior, but coming out of juniors they were the best two players
in the league. Laiho made excellent adjustments as Kim Gates
tried to throw her off throughout the match."
Florida Head Coach Andy Brandi
On the way his team played today compared to the first
round:
"In first round tournaments in the NCAA's you expect
nervousness and jitters and that is what we were experiencing
yesterday. You do not want to play your best in the early rounds,
because you want to be able to save it to use in the later
rounds. Today we stepped it up a notch and played much better
Tennis all around."
On his feeling of being the number one team in the
Tournament:
"Everyone here has a target on there back we are
not the only one. No team comes to the NCAA championship to
finish second. All sixteen teams come here with one thought in
mind and that is to win the National championship. As far as I am
concerned every team in this Tournament came in here with a
target on their back."
Florida Player M.C. White
On the way Florida played yesterday compared to today:
"Our whole team stepped it up a notch today. For not playing a
match in a month I think yesterday we were working a lot of rust
out of our systems. We showed that we can rise to a higher level
of play than we showed yesterday."
On her tie breaker against Texas's Sandy Sureephong:
"I
started off slow again, but when I went down three to Zero I knew
I had to turn it around. I knew that if I could just hang in
there that I could win and I did."
