Tiffany Gates and Jennifer Hall (Notre Dame) 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 winners over Jennifer Embry and Mary Beth Maggart (Purdue)
Jennifer Hall- "We started like we did in the first round, not playing bad but always one point behind. We finally got the momentum and kept rolling."
On winning five straight deuce games:
"We've struggled all year by not winning the big points and pulling ahead. That's something we did well today was win the big points."
On the crowd:
"We were on a roll after the second set and the crowd kept us going."
Tiffany Gates - "After we lost the first set, I still was confident because once we got in our groove and were more aggressive, I knew we were going to beat them."
On earning All-America honors in her last chance as a senior:
"Last year we were in same situation and played the fifth seed and lost so it was hard to be so close to All-American and not get it. To be at home and earn All-American is perfect."
Notre Dame head coach Jay Louderback-
"We struggled a little bit at first. We got down in the first set and had a chance to get back in the first set but didn't. Then in the second and third sets we played really well."
On the adjustments after the first set:
"Tiffany was broken the first three times she served even though she was serving well. She was just missing some volleys. She starting volleying better and we lobbed very well. This Purdue team comes to the net and is very good so you have to lob them a lot and we did. Jennifer has a great offensive lob and Tiffany a great defensive lob and we weren't doing it enough."
On winning the deuce games:
"The third set we were up in each of the first four games but all of them went to deuce. We hung in there and didn't get down even though we let back in each game."
On the crowd:
"The crowd was great. It really helped us a lot. Hopefully we'll have the crowd tomorrow in the quarterfinals."
Vanessa Webb and Karen Goldstein (Duke) (2 seed) 7-5, 6-3 winners over Paula Briggs and Mirela Vladescu (UAB):
Karen Goldstein: "Today's match was a little frustrating for me. We played really well as a team, and Vanessa made a lot of big plays that helped us today. During the first set Vanessa really pulled me threw because I was getting frustrated with myself. All around we played well today and are ready to play tomorrow."
On facing Notre Dame's Hall and Gates:
"It is always difficult facing the home town favorite, because the crowd is against you. They are a good team and we will have to play better tomorrow than we did today."
Vanessa Webb: "We were both a little off today, but we worked together to win the match. We started to gel in the beginning of the second set and then had a little lull, but we came back and won the set. We finished playing well so that it is good for tomorrow. I was a little tired during the match, but thanks to Karen I got through this today."
On playing Notre Dame's Hall and Gates:
"We played them earlier this season and they are a good team. I think that if we stick to our game tomorrow we have a good chance to win. They will have the crowd with them and unfortunately that is not good for us. All we have to do is play our game and we will come out okay."
Cristina Moros and Sandy Sureephong (Texas) (3 seed) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 winners over Eline Chiew and Adrien Jenkins (Brigham Young):
Cristina Moros: "We started off slow, we missed some volleys and shots that we normally put away. We stuck to our game plan in the second set, we were a lot more solid and a lot more clean in getting the shots that we wanted and that made the difference."
Sandy Sureephong: "It was a kind of shakey at the beginning, but we started to get things going when Cristina finally won her serve."
(On advancing to tomorrow's quarterfinals):
Cristina Moros: "As long as we play like we did today and yesterday we should do well. We have been pushed before in the NCAA's, so we know how to prepare for the big matches."
Dawn Buth and Stephanie Nickitas (Florida) (1 seed) 6-0, 6-3 winners over Manisha Malhotra and Margie Lepsi (Tennessee):
Dawn Buth - "I was kind of surprised to see Stephanie still standing after playing that singles match. I think that the both of us are a little tired. We played well today and capitalized on Tennessee's errors."
Stephanie Nickitas - "I thought we came out there really well and played our style of game that we wanted. We got off to a slow start yesterday and felt that we needed to put some pressure on Tennessee early."
(On advancing to the Quarterfinals):
Dawn Buth - "We feel good and are definitely improving everyday. I think we need to take every match one point at a time."
(On playing three matches today):
Stephanie Nickitas - "I knew it was going to be a long day, I had a tough match this morning ,and this afternoon the third set was ridiculously long. I'm tired but it felt good out there playing doubles."
Lauren Nikolaus and Michelle O (William & Mary) (5-8 seed) 6-4, 6-2 winners over Esther Knox and Anita Kurimay (California):
Michelle O: "I thought we played very focused. We got off to kind of a slow start."
(On the long day):
Lauren Nikolaus - "Its not tough to stay focused. We kept ourselves fresh. We had a good hit in (practice) earlier.
(On not playing singles):
Lauren Nikolaus - "Sure its tough. But if your not (in the singles draw), at least you stay fresh."
Michelle O: "Not really (an effect) since you approach each differently. It helps you stay fresh. Singles is singles and doubles is doubles."
(On playing Bleszynski-Scott in quarterfinals):
Lauren Nikolaus - "We played them once before this season, at All-Americans and had a pretty good match. We know it will be a tough match."
Ania Bleszynski and Julie Scott (Stanford) (4 seed) 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) winners over Martina Nedelkova and Andrea Odrisova (Virginia Commonwealth):
Ania Bleszynski - "We weren't as focused as we should have been. I knew that we weren't playing well, but if we did play well that we could win. When we were down 3-6 in the second set tiebreak, Julie made a good volley, and that inspired me to make a good volley, and then they double-faulted, and then after that we closed out the match."
Julie Scott -- "I think we were sluggish because we were tired, and it was late. We wanted to get off the court, so I think we rushed a little bit. We knew that if we could make our returns and get our serves in then we would be fine."
(On Virginia Commonwealth):
Ania Bleszynski - "They were a deceptively good team. Nedelkova had really good returns, and Ondrisova made good crosscourt passing shots. They were pretty good."
Julie Scott -- "We were a little bit surprised. We knew that they beat a good team yesterday, but we didn't know how good they were. They surprised me; they were a good team. It was tough to win."
