Postmatch Quotes
BYU head coach Clark Barton
On the way his team played in the Tournament:
"It is
awfully disappointing to lose a match like that. This is what
college tennis is all about there are always tough breaks just
like in life you just have to find away to get around them and
never give up or stop fighting like we did. The girls played
really well and I am proud of them."
On his teams single matches:
"In previous matches this
year are singles were able to win the close matches. Today we
just could not do it and it was very disappointing to lose."
Wake Forest head coach Lew Gerrard
His thoughts on today's matches:
"It does not get any
closer than it did today. This year we have had a history of
coming back, so it is never over until the last ball is hit.
Between BYU and us this was a very closely matched game and BYU
played us very well. I am proud of my players heart they showed
today."
On the tournament:
"We are very excited this is the
first time we have ever made it this far in the tournament. We
are excited to see who we will play next in the tournament."
Wake Forest Doubles team player Dorothee Kurz and Nicola Kaiwai
On their win of Wake Forests advancement in the
tournament:
"This is not the first time this year we have
been in this position. I was very nervous and thanks to my
partner Nicola Kaiwai playing very well we were able to win this
morning. We are excited to move on and play the next match for
practice for next week when we are in the doubles tournament."
