MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

Junior diver Wes Villaflor was named the BIG EAST Diver of the Year and Diving Coach Caiming Xie was named the Diving Coach of the Year by the conference after Villaflor won the three-meter event on Sunday. That capped a great weekend for Villaflor, who nabbed first place off the three-meter board on Saturday at the BIG EAST Championship. Natalie Stitt earned a second-place finish for the Irish off the one-meter board on Friday.

SOFTBALL

The first weekend out for the Irish softball team is always a challenge, typically facing teams that have experienced weeks of outside practice in warmer temperatures. Notre Dame finished 1-4 in its first weekend out, but went toe-to-toe with #1 Washington on Sunday, eventually falling 5-0.

MEN'S GOLF

The Irish began the spring portion of their 2009-10 schedule in California on Sunday, placing 10th after the first day at the Battle of the Beach. The tournament continues on Monday and Tuesday, keep an eye on und.com for the results.
