TUESDAY - FULL SPRING RECAP (4-21-09) 12:30 p.m. ET

As promised, we put together one page with all of our video links from the spring football practice coverage. You can check it out by clicking here.

Also, the Notre Dame - Northwestern softball game today has been called off due to inclement weather. No word on a rescheduled date for the game. The next live events on will be softball vs. North Dakota State on Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m. and baseball against Michigan that same day at 6 p.m.

SATURDAY - BLUE-GOLD GAME RECAP (4-18-09) 7:00 p.m. ET

It has been a long day for the video crew, but everything is up and ready to be viewed on the site. One of the more competitive and enjoyable Blue-Gold Games this group can remember - so have fun watching everything we have to offer today.

First things first, everyone wants to see the big plays from the game which provides a look at the traditonal 'highlights.'

For post game coverage, we have Coach Weis' press conference and interviews with offensive MVP Armando Allen and defensive MVP Robert Blanton.

The football program provided us with a little special access as well, as we mic'd up honorary coaches Reggie Brooks and Justin Tuck to see what they had to say to the Irish on the sidelines.

Finally, a still in production is a 'day-in-the-life' feature on Golden Tate, who caught a pass and returned a punt in the Blue-Gold Game before heading to Frank Eck Stadium to bat second for the Fighting Irish baseball team. That package will be posted here as soon as it is completed.

Here is a quick update on some of the plans and events we have coming up on Today, we venture off campus for the first time for a live event broadcast - bringing you live video coverage of the Irish baseball team as it takes on Northwestern at U.S. Cellular Field. The game will begin at 7 p.m. CT, 8 p.m. ET time.

Today will be the final spring practice report of the year (Friday's workout is closed to the media). We will focus on the fifth-year players (who were just recently approved for their fifth year by the University) and the three mid-year players who joined the roster this spring.

We are also ramping up for our Blue-Gold Scrimmage coverage. The Daily Dish (linked above) will be providing blog updates throughout the weekend, as there are several key events happening from Thursday through the rest of the weekend. For the scrimmage itself, WSBT is broadcasting audio play-by-play of the game and that can be heard right here on We will also have post-scrimmage coverage of the press conferences, game highlights, a package on our honorary coaches (who will be wearing microphones throughout the contest) and other features covering the end of the spring workout schedule for the Fighting Irish football team.

As promised, we wanted to make the Video Blog a one-stop shop for all of the football content we have produced this spring. Here are some links to catch you up with everything since the open practice on March 28 (scroll down for the previous spring football content).

The team then takes the long weekend off for Easter break and returns to the practice field on Wednesday, April 15. Our focus that day will be on the three mid-year freshman players who joined the Irish in January. Those players also wil be available to the media for the fist time after that workout.

The Irish basketball team is back in New York for the NIT Semifinals - taking on Penn State Tuesday night. is in the Big Apple with the team - and to be honest, it was a frustrating day for the video crew. The basketball team is having a great time, but the internet just has not been cooperative with the video crew. In the end, the content was eventually published, but blame the very old internet system at the Marriott Marquis for the problems.

Enough complaining - here are the things you will want to check out today. We posted an overview of the day's activities - then spoke to Luke Harangody, Kyle MacAlarney and Tory Jackson at the NIT press conference - at which Coach Brey offered a few comments.

We also caught up with Coach Brey at practice and he gave us a quick Penn State preview and we spoke to the rest of the Irish seniors after practice.

Tomorrow, we will have full post game coverage - the NIT still will not let us post any highlights - but we will be there for the post-game reaction and hopefully stay a couple more days following the team in New York.

We're committed to bringing you the best coverage of Notre Dame football anywhere on the internet - and we challenge you to find more content available - for free - of today's open practice. Sit back and enjoy it - as we had three cameras running for everything today, including both views of the enjoyable 'Irish Eyes' drill. Here is a complete list - 11 videos from football just today.

SATURDAY - JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR CREW (3-28-09) 11:40 a.m. ET

Again it is another busy day for the video crew. Today on campus, we have football practice. But, this is not just the typical practice. and all of the media outlets that cover the fighting Irish are allowed to watch, and film the entire practice session. Check back to as we will post items as we complete the video packages.

Be sure to watch the videos as the Notre Dame hockey team talked with the media and completed a 60 minute workout at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. TUESDAY - GETTING CAUGHT UP ON THINGS (3-23-09) 6:00 p.m. ET

This is perhaps the busiest time of the year for the Notre Dame Athletic Department and the video crew. The overlap between the winter sports in post season play combined with the spring sports well into their home schedules lead to long days - and even longer nights keeping up with everything going on in Irish Athletics. While women's basketball just wrapped up their season, the men's team is still in action in the NIT, the Irish hockey team is fresh off its Mason Cup Championship and looking ahead to NCAA Regional action this weekend, the baseball, softball and lacrosse teams are in the thick of their seasons and fencing is fresh off its second-place finish at the national championship meet.

Both tennis teams are still in action, both golf teams are out there competing and track and field is ready to kick off their outdoor campaign. Needless to say, there is too much going on for the video crew to keep up with it all.

Oh, and there is one more thing happening as well. The Notre Dame football team is three practices into its 15-work out schedule this spring. We have been there every day, providing our traditional practice reports and post-practice interviews. We have tweaked our practice reports in the spring, trying to streamline the information provided by Jack Nolan and focusing on a different aspect of practice in place of jumping around to different areas in each report.

So far this spring, our practice reports have focused on Coach Alford (new running backs coach) on day one, Coach Hart (new defensive line coach) on day two and Coach Verducci (new offensive line coach) on day three. The reports are designed for those that want a quick look at each practice to get the information and glimpse they are looking for, while the rest of the video will be longer stretches of video concentrating on what subject we choose to cover that day.

Coach Weis kicked off the interview portion of the spring practice schedule with a press conference at noon on the first day of workouts. Since then, we have interviewed Jimmy Clausen and Darrin Walls - and we here at would like to welcome Walls back to the roster this spring. We also sat down for a bit of a longer interview with soon-to-be-senior right tackle Sam Young to see how things are going under the new tutelage of Coach Verducci.

Speaking of Coach Verducci, he met with the media after practice on March 23 - his first post-practice meeting with the local media. Coach Alford also stopped by that day and was a bit surprised that there were so many media members there to speak with him. You can see at the beginning of video that he is laughing at the number of reporters there after a spring workout.

Our final interview so far was a combined video with Mike Ragone and Michael Floyd - Ragone is getting back into top form after missing last season with a knee injury, while Floyd will have to enter the 2009 season with expectations now, instead of being a talented, but unknown first-year player.

Coach Weis was scheduled to meet with the media on Monday, March 23, but was a bit under the weather. While he still was there at practice, he decided to push his media appointment to Saturday. In addition, due to the basketball team facing Kentucky in the NIT on Wednesday, March 24, that post-practice interview session has been moved to Saturday. We will have a practice report for everyone on Wednesday, however.

We also want to bring some attention to our coverage of the Irish hockey team. Ranked #1 in the nation and in possession of the second overall seed in the NCAA Championship, the Irish are ready to begin competition in the NCAA regional on Saturday. We will have a crew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., to keep you up to speed on everything the Irish are up to as they try to make it to the Frozen Four for the second consecutive season. The hockey team is a great partner to - as you can see they let our camera into the bench area as they wrapped up their 5-2 victory over Michigan to earn the program's second Mason Cup. You can also watch the post-game press conference and a classic highlight package as the team scored five unanswered goals to down the Wolverines.

We were also there for the NCAA selection announcement - you can check that out right now. Be sure to visit every day this week - we will have live baseball, softball and lacrosse coverage and this Saturday football's practice is completely open to's cameras - we will have complete coverage of that workout as well.

SATURDAY - FOOTBALL SPRING DAY TWO (3-21-09) 3:20 p.m. ET

The day two videos from football's second spring workout are up and running on For our practice report today we took a close look at new DL coach Randy Hart and his coaching style (we'll have Frank Verducci on Monday - following covering Tony Alford on Friday).

After practice, we caught up with junior-to-be quarterback Jimmy Clausen and welcomed back Darrin Walls with two quick interviews.'s Jack Nolan also spent some time with senior-to-be offensive tackle Sam Young.

Football returns to the practice field in full pads on Monday - and we'll be there as usual. In the meantime, we will have full coverage of the women's basketball team as they take on Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Championship on campus. Of course we are also psyched for the CCHA Championship game tonight (audio coverage link available below). Welcome to a new year for the Irish, their fans and our favorite Notre Dame faithful - those that visit Things are a tad slow on the Notre Dame athletics end (compared to a very busy fall season), but it is really just the calm before the storm. Soon, we will be into baseball, softball and lacrosse seasons - as well as spring football.

But we can't look too far ahead, as the Irish basketball and hockey teams are giving Notre Dame fans a memorable winter season. It is no secret that this has been an unusually cold winter in Northern Indiana, but the play of the men's basketball, women's basketball and top-ranked Irish hockey team make it bearable at some level.

Here at we are committed to following these programs as close as possible over the next three months - and it is not a stretch to say that we have the most complete coverage of every Irish sport on the web.

In just an hour after Notre Dame's huge win over Georgetown to extend its winning streak on the Joyce Center floor to 44 games (the nation's best current streak), we had full coverage available for free here on We posted game highlights, a selection of player post-game interviews and the official post game press conference with Coach Brey.

We also make every effort to keep up with the Irish when they were on the road. While many across the country do not get ESPNU, we were able to put together a video recap of the game from the Garden on Saturday. While it is not the most enjoyable thing to watch the Irish lose, at least it will give those that could only listen to the game an idea of what happened in New York.

The Irish hockey team is coming off a clean sweep at the Shillelagh Tournament outside Chicago, Illinois. Notre Dame defeated Union and Minnesota-Duluth during the two-day event. Due to travel for the holidays, we were unable to get a video crew to the event, but we made sure we caught up with head coach Jeff Jackson, Kyle Lawson and Garrett Regan upon their return to campus. We will also be broadcasting both games of Notre Dame's CCHA series with Alaska this weekend.

One thing is one everyone's mind in the student body at Notre Dame right now - the fact that finals loom next week makes this academic week one of the busiest of the season. Many of Notre Dame's winter sports make an effort to compete or practice as little as possible this week and the next.

There is just a dusting of snow on the ground in South Bend right now, but it has been an unusually cold and wintery late fall season here on campus. Perhaps that was part of the motivation for the Irish football team to head to Hawai'i for a bowl game this year. The team captains discussed the trip to the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Monday. If you missed it, we also had full coverage of the football end-of-the-year banquet on You can watch the team awards get handed out, Coach Weis hold a press conference before the event, Joe Theismann talk with the media before the event and Theismann's spirited remarks at the banquet itself.

MONDAY - THE BYE WEEK BEGINS (10-13-08) 12 noon ET

The Irish have reached the halfway mark of the season and are sitting with a solid 4-2 record. While some people might take solace in that mark, if you watch Coach Weis during his wrap up press conference on Sunday he is simply disappointed that the team has lost two games.

All the armchair quarterbacks have their theories on what should have been done, could have been done, whether it was a fumble or not. You can take a look at the final drive again - and we here at just would like to remind you that that is a sophomore quarterback completing passes to a sophomore wide receiver and a true freshman wide receiver.

We also produced our weekly game tape study, taking appropriate comments from Coach Weis during his wrap up press conference can finding the video from the game that fits.

Finally, the latest version of Inside Notre Dame Football is up and ready to be viewed.

This week the football information will be somewhat limited due to the bye week. The Irish will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, while several freshmen, who have only spoken to the media once this year, will be available after practice on Wednesday afternoon. We will be there to get as much time with the rookies as we can.

And when the bye week arrives, it is always a good time to not only look ahead at the second half of the football season, but what is up with Notre Dame's other varsity sports. Believe it or not, basketball is getting ready to start. We will have media day coverage of both the men's and women's team on Tuesday.

Here is something that might have slipped through the cracks as well - take a look back at the Ireland trip for the men's basketball team with Tory Jackson's video diary and post-trip interviews with Jackson and Kyle McAlarney.

THURSDAY - CAN THE IRISH WIN ON THE ROAD? (10-9-08) 5:30 p.m. ET

Can the Irish win on the road? It is a question the media has been asking the players all week and the query that Coach Weis has challenged his team with all week. Much like the Purdue game two weeks ago, this weekend's game could prove to be a key turning point for the team this season. The North Carolina natives are certainly ready for the game - sophomore Kerry Neal and junior Raeshon McNeil. Freshman Robert Blanton is also from North Carolina, but the freshmen have been limited to the media until the bye week, which is coming up after this weekend.

We also uploaded Corwin Brown's media session from Wednesday evening. The Irish offensive coordinator seemed upbeat and ready for the challenge of a balanced and explosive offense from the Tar Heels. You can check out the press conference with Maurice Crum, Jr. and David Bruton held today in the Gug as well.

Our taping time for the weekly pregame show was pushed back this week, but the show has been shot and is in post-production right now. Tonight is the Drop the Puck event - and we will have full coverage here tomorrow on

As you have come to expect, is the place to visit on home football Fridays. Today we will have the luncheon, pep rally and women's soccer game vs. USF live for our fans.

While we concentrate from time to time on football coverage - we have taken strong efforts to ramp up our Olympic coverage this season. If you visit every sport page on - each varsity sport has its own video view tab that features our most recent video assets for that particular sport.

This week, we caught up with women's cross country coach Tim Connelly and men's cross country coach Joe Piane to preview today's Notre Dame Invitational meet - which features several of the top cross country teams in the nation.

We are going to make up for the lack of a post yesterday - we were too busy cranking out video productions to make a post, but hey - we will give you direct links to everything we have done the past two days...

First off, through our great relationship with NBC Sports, they provide us with the video cut downs of each Irish home game - you can watch the Purdue game right now quarter-by-quarter starting with the first, the second, the memorable third quarter and a dominating defensive performance by the Irish in the fourth quarter.

Our two signature original pieces of content each week are the Pregame Show and the Series Retrospective, both of which are presented by our friends from Allstate. For those in a time crunch, we cut the pregame show into portions - you can watch the entire show, or just the Notre Dame analysis, the Stanford analysis and Mirko and Reggie's Keys to the Game.

For the series retrospective, we took a look back at the final game of the 2007 season when the Irish defeated Stanford 21-14. Lost in the final score were two great plays by the Irish in that game - the legendary catch by David Grimes in the endzone that inexplicably was called a non-catch by the replay official - and the end-of-the-first-half run back of an interception by David Bruton, Tom Zbikowski and Darrin Walls. Even though yet another bad call by the officials led to the play getting negated, it is still fun to watch.

Of course we have our usual weekly coverage of the football team going on as well - the practice report from Tuesday and the practice report from Wednesday are up and running now. We also have post practice interviews with a bevy of Irish players - Sam Young, Chris Stewart, Gary Gray, Harrison Smith and Pat Kuntz. For the assistant coaching perspective, we have Coach Latina, Ianello and Haywood from Sept. 30 - and are working on the media session with Corwin Brown right now - it will be up later this afternoon.

We're not done yet either! In addition to the Corwin Brown Interview, we will have an exclusive one-on-one interview with Jimmy Clausen posted later today as well. Also keep a look out this afternoon for an Olympic sports update.

    WEDNESDAY - A GOOD DAY FOR A RETRO (9-24-08) 12:15 p.m. ET

One of the things that the video crew loves to do is series retrospectives. Taking a look back at some memorable games in the history of our series with an upcoming opponent. This week, we take a look back at some of our recent victories over Purdue in Notre Dame Stadium. You can watch the Series Retrospective, presented by Allstate right now. It looks back at the 1996 game (last game with Coach Holtz vs. Purdue), the 1998 contest (Tony Driver to the rescue!), the 2000 victory (Gary Godsey at quarterback) and the 2000 game in which the Irish scored three defensive touchdowns. Hope you enjoy the look back.

We will have the press conference with Jimmy Clausen and David Grimes, along with a practice report and post-practice interviews later on this afternoon.

Small apology for the lack of posting over the weekend, hey - losses depress the video crew too. We were in East Lansing, however, and brought you the post game press conference with Coach Weis and post game interviews with three Irish players (Jimmy Clausen, Brian Smith and Golden Tate).

Sunday, we covered the wrap up with Coach Weis and produced a short film study with based on the comments from Coach Weis on Sunday. Some weekends, the film study could be long - some weeks, if Coach does not speak of items, players or plays that lend themselves to video, the film study ends up short.

Monday, the video crew takes a bit of a break (a semi-off day - the only one of the week) but we did get out to the Official Notre Dame Football Coaches Radio Show at Villa Macri's. This week's show featured defensive captain Maurice Crum, Jr.

Moving on to today, Coach Weis held his traditional weekly press conference to preview this weekend's matchup with Purdue. Of course we also have that podcast available as well. And if you are really into the podcasts - have no fear, we also posted the post game press conference from MSU and the MSU Wrap Up.

We'll be out at practice today and cover the post-practice interviews with the Irish offensive players - keep an eye on the front page of the site for those videos. We are also working on our weekly pregame show and series retrospective - which will be posted before Thursday right here on

THURSDAY - FINAL DAY OF PREP FOR MSU (9-18-08) 12 noon ET

The Irish will take the field today for their final practice before the MSU game. The Spartan offense offers a different challenge for Notre Dame, as the Irish have been facing spread-type of offenses the first two weeks of the season. You can watch interviews with defensive coordinator Corwin Brown, safety Kyle McCarthy and linebacker Brian Smith - as they look ahead to the challenge of the Spartans this weekend.

We also have an exclusive one-on-one interview with one of the standouts of the early season games so far - special teams gunner Mike Anello. Jack Nolan spent about 18 minutes with the former walk on - and you can watch the entire interview right now.

Today, we will have our final practice report of the week, the David Bruton/Maurice Crum, Jr. press conference and Coach Weis post practice.

And of course football is not the only thing we cover here at The #1-ranked women's soccer team is on the road this weekend, but caught up with All-American Kerri Hanks for an exclusive interiew after she reached the 60-goal, 60-assist landmark.

We also caught up with the men's soccer team's hat trick specialist forward Dave Donohue. You can catch his team in action on this weekend against St. John's on Friday and Syracuse on Sunday (just click on the 'Live Events' tab on the front page of

    WEDNESDAY - A LOOK BACK (9-17-08) 11:45 a.m.

Before we delve into the latest offerings on our site today - it is time for a look back to one of the signature come-from-behind wins of the Charlie Weis era at Notre Dame. In a driving rainstorm in East Lansing, the Irish rallied from a 37-21 deficit at the end of the third quarter to claim a 40-37 win over Michigan State. It was a great game for the Irish - and a memorable moment for Still in our infancy in offering video content that season, we made the trip to East Lansing and recorded one of our top-viewed videos. Ever wonder what it is like to run on the field to celebrate a big win? Just watch this video and you will know.

You can also take time to watch the post game press conference with Coach Weis. Once we got back to campus, we put together a stellar film study utilizing the coaches film from the game to break down the entire contest - including the now legendary comeback.

No worries, is hitting the road again this weekend to make sure we bring you any possible great moments from this weekend's contest.

Now, on to the latest football offerings on - check out the practice report from Tuesday, featuring a guest spot by one of our All-American analysts - Reggie Brooks. Not only does Reggie do work for us on the Official Notre Dame Football Coaches Radio show on Monday nights and join Jack Nolan and Mirko Jurkovic for the Official Notre Dame Football Post Game Show - he also is the Manager for Monogram/Football Relations and played a key role in the 1988 National Championship team's return to campus last weekend.

The University will also be unveiling the statue of Coach Holtz on Saturday - we will have full coverage of that posted before kickoff.

WEDNESDAY - IT IS HUMP DAY (9-10-08) 1:45 p.m. is here to get you ready - and fired up for this weekend's rivalry game with Michigan. We just finished production on the Official Pregame Show, presented by Allstate - and you have a few options of how you want to watch the show. You can watch the entire show right now (it runs 16 minutes), watch part one when Reggie and Mirko break down the Irish, take in part two where the guys take a look at Michigan or go straight to part three for the Keys to the Game.

Don't have time to watch the show? As always, you can take it with you... download the podcast right now.

The video crew loves putting together retrospectives and highlights from past seasons of Irish football. We had a good time with this week's Series Retrospective, presented by Allstate. We also took All-American running back Reggie Brooks back out onto the field at Notre Dame Stadium for the piece, as Reggie made two big plays that are featured in the retrospective.

Even with all the pregame shows and retrospectives, we have not let up on our daily team coverage either! SATURDAY - END OF THE DAY (8-30-08) 6:15 p.m. ET

The football leadership committee and team captains met with the media this afternoon - caught up with Jimmy Clausen, Scott Smith, Sam Young, Asaph Schwapp and Pat Kuntz - the guys were anxious to get out of the media room to watch college football. We reommend checking out all the interviews - but to highlight, it is the first time this fall we have talked with special teams leader S. Smith. If you follow the link to Smith's interview, you will find the rest we posted today.

Another change in the weekly schedule this year is the timing of Coach Weis and his game wrap ups. Instead of 12 noon or 1 p.m. ET, the game wrap ups will be at 4:00 p.m. ET. Tomorrow, both Coach Weis and will go throug a dry run for these press conferences - and since we plan to bring them to you live this year, tomorrow's presser will be live at 4;00 p.m. ET - you can access that conference when it goes live by clicking here.

Sincere apology to those that tuned in early for the volleyball match on Friday, some last minute unexpected technical problems delayed us from getting the game on the air. Those issues have been dealt with, however, and we expect no further delays this weekend. To watch tonight's match, just click here.

Last night, in addition to the volleyball victory (watch head coach Debbie Brown's reaction), the women's soccer team downed Loyola Marymount 4-0 with an impressive hat trick from All-American Kerri Hanks. You can watch an interview with both head coach Randy Waldrum and Hanks by clicking here.

One last thing, football is going through its pregame drills in Notre Dame Stadium this afternoon and the leadership committee and team captains will be available for interviews at 4:00 p.m. ET. We will have those interviews loaded up this evening.

At this time next week, will be bringing you live coverage of the Kickoff Luncheon and preparing for coverage of the pep rally. This Friday, however, our focus is on Notre Dame's Olympic sports - volleyball has its home opener this evening against IPFW. This evening, Coach Weis returns to the post-practice interview table and we will have his entire conversation with the media posted tonight ... we will also produce our final practice report of the week ... the Irish will hold a closed practice on Saturday, with the captains and leadership committee available for interviews ... on Sunday, Coach Weis will hold a media session at 4 p.m. - the same time his weekly game wrap ups are scheduled for this season (which we plan to bring to you live for the first time this year).

Feedback Question/Answer - One of the questions we are asked a lot here at is why there is no transcript each time Coach Weis talks to the media. To produce an accurate and fast transcript, the Notre Dame Sports Information Office arranges for ASAP Transcripts to listen in on the press conferences - and for that to happen, it has to be a structured question and answer session. For the transcription people to hear the questions, both Coach Weis and the media need to be miked up. This occurs at his press conferences on Tuesday of each game week, the post game press conferences (at home) and his game review on Sunday - therefore there is a transcript available.

When Coach Weis meets with the media after practice on Wednesday and Thursday of each game week, it is much more of an informal gathering with the media and that is why we have started to overlay the video with the questions asked by the media - so you can easily understand what subject he is talking about.
