AS A JUNIOR: His 2001 highlights included 8-1 showings at the Northwestern Open and the Notre Dame Open, plus wins over fencers from Duke and North Carolina at the Duke Open ... placed eighth at 2001 Midwest Fencing Conference individual championships, behind just three non-Notre Dame fencers ... registered three wins to help Irish sweep all four opponents at 2000 Detroit Open.

AS A FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORE: Turned in solid seventh-place finish at 2000 Midwest Fencing Conference individual competition (fellow Irish foilists Ozren Debic and Forest Walton finished 1-2 before repeating that finish in 2001) ... posted 11-2 record in 2000, after winning 15 of 17 bouts as a freshman in 1999.

PREP & PERSONAL: Gained much of his training while living in Bordeaux, France, coached by Jackie Lambert at the CAM fencing club ... won Florida state championship in open foil and sabre from 1991-99 ... a four-year letterwinner in fencing at Dunedin High School ... did not lose a match in his four-year prep career while claiming four state titles ... also served as team captain and earned team MVP honors in each of his four seasons ... reached the finals in cadet national competition (NAC) ... also earned two varsity letters as a defender on the Dunedin soccer team (as a junior and senior) ... member of the National Honor Society ... father Phillippe Beau played volleyball at the University of Bordeaux ... born May 10, 1980, in Bordeaux, France ... enrolled in the College of Science, as a chemistry major.
