AS A JUNIOR: Went 39-9 on the season … came in sixth place at the 2016 ACC Men’s Foil Championship … went a perfect 8-0 during the team competition at the ACC Championship to help the Irish to their second straight conference title … went 13-8 over two days at the Northwestern Duals … went 14-0 at Notre Dame’s DeCicco Duals … was 4-1 at the Elite Invitational … started the season with a seventh-place finish in men’s foil at the Penn State Open … earned a monogram.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Became a steady competitor for the Irish throughout the year, finishing with a 23-6 record ... began the season 3-2 at the Ohio State Elite Cup and went on to finish 0-1 in St. John's, 5-0 at NYU Invite, 8-3 at Northwestern and 7-0 in the DeCicco Duals ... at Ohio State, blanked North Carolina's Harry Adams 5-0 and beat Alexander Burte 5-3 and Ezra Baeli-Wang 5-1 ... lost to Penn State's David Gomez, 5-1 ... beat Chris Colley of Ohio State 5-3 ... at St. John's, lost sole bout in overtime priority to Harry Bergman of Columbia, 5-4 ... at NYU Invite, bested Yale's Jin Ishizuka and Jacob Stein, 5-4 ... against NYU, beat Philip Shin 5-4, Weija Chen, 5-1 and Daniel Sconzo 5-2 ... at Northwestern, won a pair of bouts against Stanford's Andre Cornman (5-3) and Justin Lee (5-4) ... blanked Air Force's Michael Hurst 5-0 and beat David Areneberg 5-2 before losing to Alex Chiang, 5-4 ... beat Mitchell Shulman of UC San Diego 5-2, but lost to Eduard iinskiy 5-3 and David Hadler, 5-2 ... finished the tournament with three straight victories against Cal Tech ... in DeCicco Duals, beat Cleveland State's Giovanni Trovato 5-0 and Wayne State's Zachary Shoen (5-1) and Peter Wachowiak (5-1) ... blanked Erik Paulson of Lawrence and Josef Provido of Detroit ... out-dueled Indiana's Jake Doan, 5-2 to finish the meet ... earned a monogram.
AS A FRESHMAN: Did not compete during 2014 season.
PREP & PERSONAL: Born in Durham, North Carolina to parents Dennis and Pam Crumpler ... youngest of four children ... competed with both the Raleigh Fencers Club and Boston Fencing Club ... in 2011, came in third place at Division 1A National Championships ... in 2012, placed 16th at Division I National Championships ... in 2013, finished third at the Senior Team National Championships ... biggest athletic thrill to date has been being recruited for varsity sports ... enrolled in Mendoza College of Business.
