Catherine Mulquin Earned Honorable Mention All-America Honors On Day 2 of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Senior Catherine Mulquin earned honorable mention All-America honors to highlight No. 24 Notre Dame's second day of action at the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.

Mulquin finished 15th in the 100 back and sixth in the consolation final.

HOW THEY SWAM

All --American
Mulquin placed 15th the morning prelims of the 100 back with a time of 51.72. She then swam 51.89 and finished sixth in the evening's consolation final. The senior's prelim time was the fastest time in school history and broke her own record twice she set just a week before up the road at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center's Make-It meet coming in at 52.13.

Sophomore Alice Treuth came in 42nd in the 100 back tapping the wall with a time of 53.46.

#IrishRelays
The Irish relays had another strong day at the pool coming in 18th in the 200 medley relay. The group of Mulquin, Meaghan O'Donnell, Nicole Smith and Katie Smith came in at 1:37.60 and were an alternate for the consolation final.

The Irish relays will be back in action tomorrow morning for the 400 free relay.

Freshman Phenom
Freshman Abbie Dolan continued her great first season with a top-25 time in the 200 free. Her time of 1:45.24 placed her in 22nd and was the third fastest time in school history. The freshman will swim the 100 freestyle in morning prelims.

Flying in the Top-35
Sheehan swam the 100 fly in the morning prelims in 52.72 and placed her 34th. The swim was the fourth fastest in school history. Sheehan will swim the 200 fly tomorrow morning.

The 100 Breaststroke
O'Donnell finished 31st in the 100 breaststroke after tapping in at 1:00.68. Her time was the fifth-best time in program history. 0'Donnell will be back in the pool tomorrow morning for the 200 breaststroke prelims.

"I am very proud of Catherine Mulquin earning All -- American honors. She worked for this everyday and put her best effort up when the lights were shining brightest. All of our women had an exceptional day and will be well prepared for a big day tomorrow."

Saturday's morning session will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd. ESPN3.com will stream the finals sessions on Saturday.
