Irish Athletes Honored For Academics By CSCAA

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A total of 23 University of Notre Dame swimming and diving student-athletes were recently recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for outstanding performance in the classroom. 

The yearly CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable mention selections achieved a GPA of 3.50 and recorded a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.

For the Irish women, which was lauded as a CSCAA Division I Scholar All-America squad collectively with a 3.60 GPA this past season, 12 student-athletes received individual citations. Abbie Dolan, Lauren Heller, Erin Isola, Kyra Sarazen, Lindsay Stone, Kelly Straub and Alice Treuth earned Scholar All-America first-team accolades, while Cailey Grunhard, Meaghan O’Donnell, Katie Rentz, Molly Treble and Rachel Wittmer claimed honorable mention scrolls.

On the men’s side, Notre Dame was also named a CSCAA Division I Scholar All-America team with a cumulative team GPA of 3.30. Joe Coumos, Steven Shek and Daniel Speers led 11 Irish student-athletes by being selected to the Scholar All-America top team, while Garrett Clarke, Benjamin Gorski, William Cumberland, Benjamin Jany, Nick Milikich, Rex Riley, David Stewart and Joseph Turk snagged honorable mention accolades.
