    Active member of Notre Dame track and field when he won bronze in the 400m hurdles at the 1920 Antwerp games ... qualified third in the event in the U.S. Olympic Trials ... following Olympics named All-American after winning the 220 yard hurdles at the 1921 NCAA Outdoor Championships ... also won the 440 yard hurdles at the 1921 AAU Championships ... won three Monograms from 1921-23 with the Irish track and field team ... helped lead team to second place finish at NCAA Outdoor Championships in 1921, a third place showing in 1922 and a tied for 13th finish in 1923 ... also played football at Notre Dame ... wore No. 17 and Monogramed twice for head coach Knute Rockne in 1920 and 1921 ... coached football following graduation ... wrote several books on coaching theory.
