Participated in the four-man bobsled competition for his native Hungary at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, helping his country finish 23rd in the event ... returned four years later at the 2006 Torino Games, driving the two- and four-man sleds for Hungary, finishing 29th and 24th, respectively ... hails from family of Olympic competitors -- his late father, Istvan, ran the 400 meters for Hungary in 1964 Tokyo Olympics before going to become General Secretary of the IAAF (international track & field's governing body), while his mother, Olga Kazi, was a Hungarian middle-distance runner who twice competed in the Olympics (800 meters in 1960 Rome Games, 400 and 800 meters at 1964 Tokyo Olympics) ... in addition, older brother Miklos represented Hungary in the four-man bobsled at the 1994 Lillehammer Games (28th place) and the 1998 Nagano Olympics (24th), as well as running for the Hungarian 4x100-meter relay team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Ran track at Notre Dame from 1997-2001, primarily competing as a sprinter and earning a monogram as a senior in 2001 ... performance was hampered by knee injury suffered as a freshman ... placed fifth in 60-meter dash in 2001 indoor meet at Michigan State ... took 13th in 100-meter dash at 2001 Boilermaker Open.

Only athlete with Notre Dame connections ever to take part in the Winter Olympics ... he also is one of four athletes to qualify for the Olympics in a sport other than the one he competed in during his career at Notre Dame, a short list that also includes three-time (1988, 1992, 1996) U.S. modern pentathlete Mike Gostigian of the United (who was a fencer in college), 2000 U.S. triathlete Nick Radkewich (who competed in track & cross country for the Fighting Irish), and 2004 U.S. kayaker Jeff Smoke (who did not participate in intercollegiate athletics but earned his degree from Notre Dame).

Graduated from Notre Dame in 2001, earning his bachelor's degree in government and international studies ... now makes his home in Budapest, Hungary, where he serves as general secretary for the Hungarian Athletics (Track & Field) Federation (his brother Miklos currently is that body's president) ... helped Budapest's successful bid to host the 2014 World Indoor Masters Athletics Championships.
