    PALO ALTO, Calif. - The University of Notre Dame men's and women's track and field teams combined for a total of four first-place finishes and three second-place finishes on the final day of the Stanford Invitational (Palo Alto, Calif.) and the Oliver Nikoloff Open (Cincinnati, Ohio).

    Altogether, the Irish racked up 18 top-10 finishes and 11 top-five finishes.

    In Cincinnati, Ohio, Carly Loeffel made Notre Dame's presence felt as she won the heptathlon with a total of 5,113 points at the Oliver Nikoloff Open. Dean Odegard led the men's team in the decathlon with a third-place finish after compiling 6,341 points. Between the multi-event student-athletes that made the trip to Cincinnati, the Irish recorded 29 points in team scoring.

    In Palo Alto, Calif., Madeline Casanova was the standout at the Stanford Invitational as she placed first in the discus and second in the hammer.

    Notre Dame travels next to East Lansing, Mich. April 5-6, to compete in the Michigan State Invitational.

    Event Winners:

    Heptathlon: Carly Loeffel (5,113 points)

    800m: Rebecca Tracy (2:05.31)

    Men's 4x400m: Notre Dame `A' (3:06.71)

    100mH: Jade Barber (13.68)

    Women's 4x400m:

    Notre Dame `A' (3:37.84)

    Hammer: Madeline Casanova (54.39m)

    Oliver Nikoloff Open (Cincinnati)

    Decathlon: Dean Odegard led the Irish in the event with a total of 6,341 points to land in third place. Odegard finished just six points away from claiming a second-place finish. Ted Glasnow placed fourth with 6,314 points and Brent Swanberg finished sixth with a total of 5,924 points.

    Heptathlon: Carly Loeffel won the heptathlon with a total of 5,113 points and was the only participant to achieve at least 5,000 points. Loeffel pulled away from the pack, winning by 294 points, the largest margin between any competitor in the event. Meghan Moore finished fourth with 4,590 points.

    Stanford Invitational Results (Top-10)

    Men:

    100mH: Jarrod Buchanon placed sixth crossing the line at 14.90.

    4x400m: Notre Dame secured its first-place finish by 2.61 seconds over second-place Minnesota. The Irish won their section and surpassed 11 teams.

    Triple Jump: Logan Renwick finished ninth after leaping a distance of 14.48m.

    Discus: Dominick Padovano threw toward an eight-place finish after gathering a distance of 47.65m.

    Women:

    4x100m: Notre Dame finished fifth within a field of 12 schools with a time of 45.99. The Irish finished .79 behind the winner, Laney.

    Hammer: Madeline Casanova placed second with a hurl of 54.39m. The distance is the farthest the senior has achieved thus far in her collegiate career.

    Discus: Casanova won the event with a toss of 45.26m. The effort stands as the senior's top throw during the 2013 outdoor season and places her No. 7 on the BIG EAST performance list.

    800m: Rebecca Tracy finished first in the field of 28 with a winning time of 2:05.31. The time is the third best in the country according to the TRFFS NCAA Division l Outdoor Qualifying List. The senior edged out Oregon's Ann Kesselring at the line by .45. Danielle Aragon placed sixth with a time of 2:06.00 and recorded the fourth-best time in the country this year during the outdoor season. The time is also the fastest recorded time in the event this year for the freshman.

    100mH: Jade Barber placed second in the event with a 13.68. The time is the second fastest in the event thus far in the BIG EAST.

    4x400m: Notre Dame placed second in the field of 14 teams with a time of 3:37.84.

    Triple Jump: Mary Esther Gourdin finished ninth after leaping a distance of 11.99m.

    Pole Vault: Kelly Burke placed fourth after clearing a height of 3.68m.
