LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The University of Notre Dame track and field teams participated in the Border Battle this weekend, teaming up with Louisville to compete against Indiana and Purdue. The Big 10 pairing bested the future-ACC team, but many Notre Dame athletes posted strong times this weekend, with four of them placing first in their respective events.

In the men's competition, Purdue and Indiana won 125-72. In the women's events, the duo was also victorious, 114-85.

Junior Jade Barber finished first in the finals of women's 100m dash with a time of 11.51. Her sister, junior Kaila Barber finished first in the finals of the 100m hurdles at 13.47. Senior Megan Yanik was the third Irish athlete to win her event, placing first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.67. Finally, junior Mary Esther Gourdin placed first in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.70m. Gourdin's performance broke the Notre Dame school record in the triple jump, previously set by Petra Dakota in 2004 with a leap of 12.65.

Senior Aijah Urssery placed second in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.25, less than a 10th of a second behind first place. Sophomore Danielle Aragon finished in third in the women's 800m run in 2:10.61. Junior Emily Morris won the silver in the women's shot put with a throw of 15.46m.

On the men's side, freshman Harvey Smith finished in second with a time of 47.52 in the 400m dash. Sophomore Aaron Dunn also placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.22. Senior Logan Renwick pulled out a second place finish in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.66m.

The Irish travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., this week for the Outdoor ACC Championships.
