DES MOINES, Iowa --- The University of Notre Dame track and field teams have made a point of continuing the success earned at last weekend’s Outdoor ACC Championships. The Irish are spending the weekend competing in both the Drake Relays and the Hillsdale Gina Relays.
A big highlight from the day was Notre Dame’s victory on the women’s 4x200m relay. Kaila Barber, Margaret Bamgbose, Michelle Brown and Aijah Urssery won the race in 1:34.54, just barely over a tenth of a second faster than the second place team from Kansas.
Jade Barber also ran a personal best in the 100m hurdles, with the sub-13 second time of 12.97, putting her first in the event’s preliminary race.
In the preliminary 4x400m relay, the men’s team of Chris Giesting, Jarrod Buchanon, Harvey Smith and Patrick Feeney ran their fast time of the year—3:05.94—qualifying for the finals. The women’s team of Jade Barber, Brown, Amber Lalla and Bamgbose also qualified for the finals of their event with a second-place finish in the preliminaries.
Both meets continue tomorrow with final events. Live results can be found here for the Drake Relays.
