FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Records were broken and several members of the Notre Dame track and field program secured spots in the 2008 NCAA Championships with strong showings at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet hosted by Arkansas from May 29-30 at John McDonnell Field. School records were set on the women's side by Mary Saxer (Pole Vault), Jaclyn Espinoza (Discus) and Anna Weber (Hammer). Natalie Johnson recorded the program's eighth-fastest time ever in the 800m (2:10.10). After taking fourth in the 1,500m prelims (3:48.94), Kurt Benninger checked in at fifth in the final round with a time of 3:48.41. Patrick Smyth was third overall in the 5,000m (14:07.97) while Adam Currie (800m / 5th / 1:48.56) and Matt Schipper (Pole Vault / 9th / 5.06m) also shelved top 10 finishes.
