Currie, Benninger Compete In Day Two of National Meet

DES MOINES, Iowa - Seniors Adam Currie and Kurt Benninger competed for the Notre Dame track and field team Thursday in the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium. Currie went through the 800m in 1:49.40, while Benninger advanced to the finals of the 1,500m run by finishing in 3:43.86 during the semifinal round. An epic thunderstorm early Thursday morning preceded a partly cloudy, warm and only slightly windy day - much better conditions for the athletes and the 9,618 spectators. Friday's action will be televised live on CBS-CSN from 7-9 p.m. (CT).
