NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame senior Rebecca Tracy (Barrington, IL/Barrington) has been named the BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 7-13, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Tracy earned the weekly accolade after setting two meet records this past Saturday (April 13) at the Border Battle “Kentuckiana” on the campus of the University of Louisville.
Tracy finished first in both the 1,500m (4:17.12) and the 800m (2:07.12) to claim a pair of meet records. The senior won by a 2.21 second margin in the 1,500m over Kentucky’s Cally Macumber and edged out teammate Danielle Aragon by one one-hundredth of a second in the 800m.
Tracy’s 1,500m time currently places her No. 4 nationally in the event according to the Track and Field Results Reporting System’s (TFRRS) NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List.
The 2013 indoor All-American ranks No. 1 in the BIG EAST in the 800m (2:05.31) and the 1,500m (4:13.27) according to TFRRS BIG EAST Outdoor Performance List.
