Shay Qualifies for World Junior Cross Country Championships
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Notre Dame freshman Ryan Shay placed
fourth at the United States Junior National Cross Country
Championships in Portland, Ore., this past weekend. With his
finish, Shay has qualified to represent the United States at
the World Junior Cross Country Championship in March 1998, in
Marrakesh, Morocco.
Shay, who came to Notre Dame after a standout career at Central
Lake High School in Central Lake, Mich., recently completed a
freshman season in which he helped the Irish win their first
BIG EAST championship and place 12th at the NCAA championships.
