Notre Dame Runners Take Sixth in Central Collegiate
Championships
Notre Dame, Indiana--Notre Dame sent its "B" men's and women's
squads to the Central Collegiate championships at Kalamazoo, Mich. and
both the men's and women's squads came away with sixth-place finishes.
Ohio University claimed both titles.
Notre Dame's men's squad was led by top-finisher Tim Engelhart who
placed 20th. Scott Grace was right behind Engelhart in 26th place.
Ohio's Josh Ritchie was first.
On the women's side, South Bend's Patti Rice was the top Irish
finisher at 14th while Marisa Posch was 27th. Ohio's Jackie Conrad
claimed the title.
Notre Dame's men's and women's "A" squads run Saturday at the
prestigious Arizona Invitational, site of the 1996 NCAA cross country
championships. The Irish will face their toughest test of the season,
running against some of the top teams in the country.
