Men's Cross Country won the National Catholic Invitational at Notre Dame Golf Course on September 17th.
2012 Cross Country Season:Competed in the last five meets of the season, earning all-BIG EAST and all-region honors before leading the way for the Irish at the NCAA Championships ... was the top runner on the team at both regionals and nationals ... placed 52nd out of 245 runners at the 10K NCAA Championships (30:20.0) ... earned all-region honors at the 10K NCAA Great Lakes Regional (31:02) after finishing ninth out of 201 runners to help Notre Dame take fifth out of 30 teams ... earned an eighth place showing out of 114 runners at the 8K BIG EAST Championship (24:46.52) to earn all-BIG EAST honors in helping the Irish finish third out of 14 runners ... opened year with a 35th place finish out of 163 runners in the five mile blue race at the Notre Dame Invitational (24:21) ... closed out regular season with a 72nd place finish out of 316 runners on the 8K course at the Wisconsin Invitational (24:08).
AS A SOPHOMORE: Turned in a strong sophomore cross country campaign, earning all-BIG EAST and all-region accolades ... named all-BIG EAST after finishing 10th out of 123 runners at the conference meet, completing the 8K course in 23:52.2 ... earned all-region accolades after crossing the line 20th out of 211 runners at the 10K Great Lakes Regional (30:44.2) ... finished second for the Irish at the 10K NCAA National Championships (30:52.6), placing 110th out of 255 runners ... opened campaign at the 8K National Catholic Championships, taking second out of 255 runners (24:35) ... also placed 53rd out of 205 runners in the 8K blue race at the Notre Dame Invitational (24:56) and 81st out of 270 runners at the 8K Wisconsin Invitational ... was productive in seven indoor/outdoor track and field meets for the Irish ... gathered in a fifth-place finish out of a field of 25 in the 5,000m run (14:35.09) at the Notre Dame Blue & Gold Invitational ... picked up a fifth-place finish and a college best at the Polytan Invitational in the 5,000m with a 14:27.83 ... participated in the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships and in the NCAA Championships for the Irish ... named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star ... earned a monogram in both cross country and track and field.
AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in middle distances races during his first campaign with the Irish, taking to the track at four events on the season ... set his best mile time of the year at the Notre Dame Invitational, stopping the clock at 4:27.71 to finish in 17th ... raced in the 3,000m at the Indiana University Relays, finishing third in his finals heat and 11th overall with a time of 8:45.94 ... ran the 5,000m run at the Blue & Gold Invitational, placing fifth in the 17-member field after crossing in 14:45.95 ... ended season running in the 5,000m at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, posting a time of 15:12.93 and finishing 21st.
