AS A JUNIOR: Continued his role as one of the top-eight harriers on the Notre Dame men's cross country team ... appeared in seven cross country competitions during the 2002 season ... top finish ended up as sixth in the National Catholic Invitational, helping the Irish claim the team title ... ran well in the Pre-National Meet open race, finishing 19th (25:30) ... helped Notre Dame finish fourth as a team at the BIG EAST Championship with a 41st-place effort ... ran in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, finishing 72nd overall ... appeared in the first NCAA Championship competition of his career at the 2002 national championship meet in Terre Haute, Ind., finishing 223rd (Notre Dame finished 22nd as a team) ... returned to the track for the 2003 season after missing the 2002 campaign due to an injury ... first two competitions of the indoor season were mile runs, finishing second against Western Michigan and Ball State (4:14.99) and third vs. Michigan State (4:15.68) ... ran a career-best 14:57.00 in the 5,000 meters at the Alex Wilson Invitational to cap the indoor season ... qualified for the 10,000 meters at the 2003 BIG EAST outdoor meet, finishing 25th in a career-best 32:21.65.

AS A SOPHOMORE: One of the top runners on the Irish cross country team in 2001 ... kicked off the year with a second-place finish at the Valparaiso Invitational, helping the team win the event ... ran among Notre Dame's eight runners in the National Catholic Invitational, finishing 11th overall in 25:31 ... shaved 20 seconds off that time during the Notre Dame Invitational Gold Division race, ending up fourth in 25:12 ... ran with the top eight runners during the Great Lakes Regional Championship, helping the Irish claim the team title with a 97th-place finish ... did not compete during the 2002 track and field season.

AS A FRESHMAN: Talented rookie who contributed during both the cross country and track and field seasons ... ran the first three varsity races of the cross country season, featuring a 13th-place finish at the Valparaiso Invitational ... one of Notre Dame's top-five finishers at the National Catholic Invitational, finishing 21st in 26:15 ... also ran the varsity race at the highly competitive Notre Dame Invitational ... first collegiate track and field event was the mile run vs. Ball State and Western Michigan (11th place), then moved to the 3,000 (10th place) against Michigan State the next weekend ... best effort of the indoor season came at the Alex Wilson Invitational, finishing 17th in 15:11.01 ... ran the 5,000 and 10,000 meters during the outdoor season.

PREP AND PERSONAL: A three-year letterwinner in cross country and track at Christian Brothers Academy ... won the New Jersey Meet of Champions, becoming the first cross country state champion from Christian Brothers Academy ... member of the four-time state cross country championship team ... Christian Brothers was nationally ranked 10th in '98, 10th in '99 and third in 2000 ... earned honorable mention All-America status in cross country as a senior ... an all-state selection in 1999 and 2000 in cross country ... helped Christian Brothers extend dual win streak to 237 - the longest streak in the nation ... member of one of the greatest cross country teams in New Jersey state history with four first-team all-state selections ... boasts career-best times of 9:25.8 in the 3,200 meters and 4:19.8 in the 1,600 meters ... member of the National Honor Society ... uncle Robert Kerwin was a member of the Randolph-Macon basketball team ... born Oct. 11, 1981 in Point Pleasant, N.J. ... enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business with a finance major.
