Irish Cross Country Off To Crusader Open; Both Squads Earn Preseason Rankings

Men's and women's squads both among top 25 in preseason for first time since 2005.

AS A JUNIOR: Competed in two meets during the cross country season ... placed seventh out of 106 runners in the JV National Catholic Championship 5K (19:25) ... finished 45th out of 110 runners in the JV Notre Dame Invitational 5K (19:44.4) ... competed in just one meet during the indoor/outdoor track & field seasons ... placed seventh of seven runners in the Blue and Gold Invitational 3000m run (11:18.35).

AS A SOPHOMORE: Opened the cross country season by competing in the first three meets ... finished 20thout of 60 runners at the season-opening 5K Crusader Invitational (19:24.2) ... took 10thout of 104 runners in the 5K JV race at the National Catholic Championship (19:25.4) ... closed season by competing in the 5K gold race at the Notre Dame Invitational ... competed in the Blue & Gold Invitational indoor meet and placed sixth in the 3,000m with a time of 11:16.94 ... named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.

AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in the first three meets of the cross country season ... opened the year with a 26th-place showing out of 81 runners at the 5K Crusader Invitational in 19:50.7 ... turned in best finish of the year in the 5K JV race at the National Catholic Championships, finishing 12th out of 105 runners in 18:58.8 ... also ran in the 5K JV race at the Notre Dame Invitational ... finished fifth in the 5,000m (18:35.85) at the Mike Poehlein Invitational in only track meet of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Six-time letterwinner in cross country and track & field ... member of three conference championship teams (two track, one cross country) at Lansing Catholic High School ... all-state, all-conference and all-region selection six times ... won the 3200m at the 2010 MITCA State meet ... inducted into the National Honor Society while enrolled at Lansing Catholic ... also served as a Peer Assistant Leader ... daughter of Bruce and Marybeth Heeder ... has three brothers, Paul, Matthew and Christopher ... has two sisters, Ann Marie and Katherine May ... mother Marybeth (`80) graduated from Notre Dame ... enrolled in the College of Arts & Letters and is majoring in the program of liberal studies with minors in education, schooling and society and theology.
