AS A JUNIOR: Completed a historic season in both cross country and track & field for the Irish in a truly break-out year … captured Notre Dame’s first individual track & field national championship in women’s program history in the 10,000 meters … named a cross country All-American, a two-time track & field All-American and a three-time ACC champion during the 2014-15 year… competed in six meets during the cross country season in 2014 … kicked off her junior campaign winning the National Catholic Championship 5K (17:09.04) ... placed fifth of 165 runners at the Notre Dame Invitational 5K (16:19.9) ... finished 28th in an elite field of 265 runners at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational 6K (20:28) ... earned All-ACC honors with her fifth-place finish at the conference championship 6K (20:11.2) ... her fourth-place finish in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 6K (19:59) was good for all-region honors ... earned All-America honors with her 19th-place performance at the NCAA Championships 6K (20:23.4) ... became the ninth Irish woman to earn All-America honors and first since 2009 … named to the All-ACC Academic cross country team … selected for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team … earned a cross country monogram ... started off the track season with a second-place in the 3,000 meters at the Notre Dame Invitational (9:20.62)… earned a first-place finish in the mile at the Razorback Invitational (4:42.76) ... snagged a first-place finish at the Meyo Invitational in the 5,000 meter run (16:10.95) ... placed first in the 5,000 meters at the Iowa State Classic (15:54.45), setting a school record at the time … turned in a stellar performance at the ACC Indoor Championships, capturing titles in the 3,000 meters (9:10.63) and the 5,000 meters (15:55.84) and claiming Most Valuable Track Performer of the championships … set another school record in the indoor 5,000 meters (15:84.31), finishing sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships to earn First Team All-America honors … kicked off the outdoor season placing first in the 5,000 meter run at the Stanford Invitational (15:52.41) ... placed 12th in the 1,500 meters at the Virginia Challenge (4:18.88) ... claimed her third ACC title of the year in the 5,000 meters (16:07.87) and was runner-up in the 10,000 meters (33:39.70) at the ACC Outdoor Championships … named first team All-ACC in both events … competed in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships and finished first (33:38.48) … at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, captured the first individual national title in Notre Dame women’s track & field history in the 10,000 meters (33:18.37), overcoming a 50-meter gap in the final 800 meters to win by nearly seven seconds … named to the All-ACC Academic Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team … selected to the Capital One All-Academic District V First Team … earned a monogram.
AS A SOPHOMORE:Competed in four meets during the cross country season ... finished 7thout of 91 runners in the National Catholic Championship 5K (17:45.1) ... placed 26thout of 140 runners in the ACC Championship 6K (21:23.1) ... placed 33rdout of 227 runners in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 6K (21:11) ... finished 171stout of 254 runners in the NCAA Championship 6K (21:28.8) ... earned a cross country monogram ... competed in five meets during the indoor track and field season ... placed eighth of 43 runners in the ACC Indoor Championships 5000m run (16:31.27) ... competed in three meets during the outdoor track and field season ... represented the Irish at the ACC Outdoor Championships, placing 11th of 48 runners in the 5000m (16:37.07).
AS A FRESHMAN:Turned in an impressive first year with the Irish cross country team, competing in six of the seven meets including BIG EAST, regionals and NCAAs ... one of five Irish women's runners to earn NCAA Great Lakes all-region honors after finishing 19th out of 217 runners on the 6K course (20:50) to help Notre Dame qualify for the NCAA Championship meet with a third-place showing out of 32 teams ... finished 22nd out of 126 runners at the BIG EAST Championship 6K (20:41) as the Irish finished fifth of 15 teams ... opened year with a fourth place finish out of 266 runners at the National Catholic Championship (17:22.9) ... took 31st out of 145 runners in the blue race at the Notre Dame Invitational 5K (17:17) ... placed 78th out of 327 runners at the Wisconsin Invitational 6K (20:41) in the final tune-up to the BIG EAST Championship ... named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star ... earned a cross country monogram ... finished first in the 5000m run (16:05.33) in her only meet during the track and field season at the outdoor Stanford Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL:Graduated from University Lake School (Hartland, Wis.) in the spring of 2012 ... letter-winner in cross country (four times), track and field (four times), alpine ski race (three times) and field hockey (twice) ... selected as an adidas Cross Country All-American (2011) ... named Gatorade National Female Cross Country Runner of the Year and Gatorade Wisconsin Female Cross Country Runner of the Year (2011) ... helped the USA Junior National Cross Country team win the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge by finishing third ... named to the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association's all-state team and as the overall female athlete of the year (2012) ... earned first-team all-state honors for cross country from the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association three times (2008-10) ... won the Wisconsin DIII cross country meet and was the DIII record-holder all four years ... was an all-division state cross country record holder (2010-11) ... joined Suzy Favor as the only female to win four individual state cross country titles ... named the Foot Locker National and Midwest champion senior year ... named as the Brooks Border War Champion (2010-11) ... selected as a New Balance Nationals mile and two-mile All-American junior year ... won the 1600m and 3200m races at the state meet all four years ... was the all-division state record holder twice in the 3200m (2011-12) and once in the 1,600m (2012) ... selected as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Cross Country Runner of the Year on three occasions (2009, 2010 and 2011) ... named the Midwest Distance Gala Mile champion junior and senior seasons ... earned the National Merit Scholarship and named to The Cum Laude Society ... aunt, Kathleen, rowed crew for Saint Mary's College (1974-75) and Notre Dame (1975) ... aunt, Molly, rowed for Notre Dame (1985-86) ... mother, Anne, graduated from Saint Mary's College in 1987 ... full name is Molly Elizabeth Seidel ... born in Brookfield, Wis. to Fritz and Anne Seidel ... has one younger brother and one younger sister ... enrolled in the College of Arts & Letters and is majoring in anthropology with a supplementary major in Arts & Letters pre-health.
