    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The University of Notre Dame men's cross country team finished 25th (571 points) at the NCAA Cross Country Championship at the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind. Junior Jeremy Rae (Fort Erie, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic) was the top-finisher for the Irish in 31:07 for 78th place.

    In a very windy championship race, Oklahoma State captured the championship crown, followed by Florida State and Wisconsin in second and third, respectively. Samuel Chelanga of Liberty won the individual title, finishing the 10-kilometer race in 29:22.

    Senior Dan Jackson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Dexter) ran his final cross country race with the Irish in 31:23 to finish 100th.

    Junior Jordan Carlson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Rosemount) and freshman Martin Grady (Burr Ridge, Ill./Fenwick) crossed the line in 31:28 (108th) and 31:37 (124th).

    Junior Joseph Miller (Bowling Green, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) and freshman Walter Schafer (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) rounded out the Irish line up. Miller stopped the clocks at 32:04 for 161st place, while Schafer ran his first collegiate championship race in 32:34 (184th).

    As the cross country team concluded its season today, the team will begin the indoor track and field season on Friday, December 3 at the Blue and Gold Meet at the Loftus Sports Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
