NOTRE DAME, Ind. -
The Notre Dame Club of Staten Island, along with Ryan Maxwell and other former Irish runners, will host a memorial Mass Saturday in memory of the late Ryan Shay.
Shay, a nine-time All-American with the Irish from 1997-2002, died unexpectedly a year ago, while competing at the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in New York City.
The Mass is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Capodanno Chapel at Fort Wadsworth. A pasta dinner will follow at Farrell Hall at St. Peters Church on Staten Island.
A group of former Irish runners, including Ryan Maxwell, Sean Zanderson and Sean McManus, will run the NYC Marathon Sunday in honor of Shay.
