    Notre Dame @ #6 NC State

    The Irish played their first ACC series in program history at No. 6 NC State March 8-9.

    AT NOTRE DAME: One-year monogram winner ... had played in one career game before breakout junior campaign ... displays plus arm and ability to block ... solid catch and throw player ... needs to continue development as a hitter ... has terrific leadership skills and is a co-captain with fellow senior Sean Fitzgerald ... tough, hard-nosed player ... similar in terms of work ethic, desire to succeed and competitiveness to older brother, Cole, who graduated in 2011 as a four-year monogram winner ... carried a 3.270 cumulative GPA into the 2014 spring semester.

    HONORS & AWARDS: BIG EAST Academic All-Star (2011, 2013).

    JUNIOR SEASON (2013): Had breakout junior campaign, starting 54 games at catcher and appearing in 55 overall ... struggled at the plate offensively, but displayed solid defensive skills behind the dish, fielding at a .986 clip ... only had five errors out of 347 opportunities ... hit .207 with five doubles, 10 RBI, 17 runs scored and 15 total sacrifices ... 13 sacrifice bunts and 15 total sacrifices placed him into a tie for seventh in school single-season history in both categories ... tallied hits in 30 games ... produced an RBI in eight contests, including a career-high three off a double against Massachusetts (Mar. 1) ... totaled two sacrifice bunts and a hit at Tulane (Feb. 23) ... had lone multi-hit affair against Villanova (Apr. 6) ... had 10-plus putouts in four games including a career-high 13 in previously mentioned games against UMass and Villanova ... caught 15 players attempting to steal in 35 attempts.

    SOPHOMORE SEASON (2012): Did not see any game action.

    FRESHMAN SEASON (2011): Appeared in one game as a defensive substitute against Seattle on Feb. 26.

    PREP & PERSONAL: Lettered three years in baseball for head coach Chuck Shilling ... earned three letters in football ... as a junior, earned letters in football and baseball ... named first team all-conference and the Hudson High School Defensive Player of the Year ... earned the Northern Ohio Conference Scholar Athlete Award (in both baseball and football), Hudson High School Scholar Athlete Award (in both baseball and football) and West Point Leadership Award ... member of the high school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes and United States Military Academy ... as a sophomore, earned letters in both football and baseball ... named second team all-conference ... earned the Northern Ohio Conference Scholar Athlete Awards and Hudson High School Scholar Athlete Awards (in both baseball and football) ... member of the high school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes ... as a freshman, earned the Hudson High School Scholar Athlete Awards (in both baseball and football) ... son of Doug and Suzy Johnson ... has two siblings - brother, Cole, who was a four-year monogram winner at Notre Dame (2008-11) and current member of the Minnesota Twins organization, and sister, Paige ... full name is Forrest Douglas Johnson ... enrolled in Mendoza College of Business as a marketing major.
