reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in June of

athlete whose versatility extends to the mound and
behind the plate (plus various infield positions) ...
should be a leading contender at catcher in 2003, with
four-year veterans Paul O’Toole and Andrew Bushey set
to graduate after the 2002 campaign ... showed his

regional playoff game versus Sterling (he was unable
to pitch and played first base, with Moline later
losing to Galesburg in the regional title game) ...
considered the pitching ace on Moline’s 2001 staff,
with a 4-1 record and 2.36 ERA, plus a .477 batting
average, three home runs, two triples, 12 doubles and
30 RBI ... opted not to play 2001 summer ball with
Rock Island Post 200 America Legion team, while
recovering from injury ... led 2000 Moline team to a
33-3 record and a third-place finish in the state
tournament, batting .390 in that junior season with
four home runs and 45 RBI – plus a 9-0 record and 2.50
ERA in 65 IP ... helped baseball team win Western Big
6 Conference title his final three seasons and
regional championships his first three seasons ...
