AS A SOPHOMORE: Made nine relief appearances in ?98, winning his only decision while posting a 5.91 ERA ... totaled seven strikeouts, six walks, one hit batter and 10 hits allowed in 10.2 innings ... struck out the only two batters he faced to pick up 6-4 win over Bowling Green ... tossed shutout innings in 4-3 loss to Ball State (1 K) and 9-4 win over Villanova (1 BB) ... allowed one run over two innings in 7-1 win over Purdue (1 H, 1 BB) ... recorded two outs in 3-1 win over Valparaiso (2 H, 1 BB) ... his final regular-season outing yielded a shutout inning in 15-4 win over Toledo (1 BB) ... pitched in season-ending loss to Rutgers at BIG EAST Tournament (12-0), allowing two runs to open the fifth inning (both runners eventually came around to score).
AS A FRESHMAN: Made 11 relief appearances while posting a 2.95 ERA that ranked second to closer Larry Mohs (2.66) among Irish pitchers with 13-plus innings ... went 1-1 while recording three of Notre Dame's 11 saves ... totaled 14 strikeouts, nine walks, two hit batters and one wild pitch in 21.1 innings ... allowed just a .203 opponent batting average ... did not surrender a home run in 89 batters faced ... had solid debut in 10-5 loss to Northeastern Illinois, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over 2.1 innings (2 K) ... struck out four IUPUI batters in three-inning save performance (11-3) ... posted his first career win versus Indiana Tech (8-7), logging four innings while allowing just one run on four hits and two walks ... came up with three strikeouts and 2.1 shutout innings in 4-3 loss to Michigan ... suffered loss at Pittsburgh (7-6), after allowing two runs on two hits and a walk over two innings ... saved 3-1 win over Chicago State with a one-walk shutout inning ... also saved 3-1 win over the University of Chicago with two shutout innings (1 H, 1 K) ... pitched two innings in 10-5 loss to Villanova in first round of BIG EAST Tournament, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk.
PREP AND PERSONAL: Crystal Lake High School athlete of the year as a senior, after earning team MVP honors in football, hockey and baseball ... a pitcher and infielder for the Crystal Lake baseball team, earning team MVP, all-conference and all-area honors as a senior after going 6-2, with a 1.37 ERA, 71 Ks and 21 walks in 62 IP ... hockey team MVP and all-conference, as both a junior and senior, leading team to its first ever conference titles ... totaled 43 goals and 31 assists while playing in every game of a 24-5 season ... finalist for the Northwest Herald athlete of the year ... candidate for Chicago Tribune student-athlete of the year ... attended same high school as former Notre Dame swimmer Brittany Kline (class of ?99) ... oldest of six children ... born Jan. 9, 1978, in Chicago, Ill. ... son of Terence and Marian O?Hagan ... a pre-professional studies major in the College of Science.
