CLEARWATER, Fla. - Ohio State junior Dean Wolosiansky allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 6.0 solid innings and senior outfielder Michael Stevens went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the 13th-ranked Buckeyes past Notre Dame, 10-2, in college baseball action from the 2010 Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge at Bright House Networks Field Saturday afternoon.

Ohio State improved to 5-0 on the season, while the Irish (3-2) have now dropped two straight since opening the season with three consecutive victories.

Wolosiansky improved to 1-0 on the year. He scattered seven hits and issued three walks, but also fanned three. Theron Minium and Jared Strayer tossed 2.0 and 1.0 scoreless innings, respectively.

Junior third baseman Greg Sherry was the lone Notre Dame player with more than one hit. He went 2-for-4. Senior outfielder Matt Grosso went 1-for-3 with a single and run scored. Junior designated hitter Matt Scioscia went 1-for-3 with a couple walks and a RBI double.

Notre Dame did register 11 hits on the night, but stranded 12 on the base paths. It marked the second straight game in which the Irish left at least 10 on base. Notre Dame stranded 10 last night in the loss to Illinois. The Irish managed just one hit in nine at bats with runners in scoring position.

Junior Brian Dupra (0-1) was charged with the loss and lasted just 3.2 innings. The right-handed hurler was roughed up for eight runs, six earned, on eight hits. He struck out one and walked a pair.

Junior Ryan Sharpley made his second appearance of the season after missing the entire 2009 campaign. The righty worked around three walks and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. Sophomore Will Hudgins worked the next 2.0 innings and allowed an earned run on a pair of hits. The right-handed sidewinder fanned one and walked one.

After Dupra retired Ohio State in order in the first inning, the Buckeyes took advantage of a pair of Notre Dame errors in the second inning to plate two unearned runs to grab a 2-0 lead. Dupra actually avoided any further damage in the inning after getting a key double play ground out.

Ohio State benefitted from another Irish error in the three-run third inning, but the Buckeyes really found their offensive stroke in the frame with two outs. Dan Burkhart drew a walk and Stephens and Ryan Dew followed with back to back doubles to make it 4-0. Brad Hallberg followed with Ohio State's third consecutive hit to push its lead to 5-0.

The Buckeyes tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to run Dupra. Matt Streng and Tyler Engle led off the inning with singles and both came around to score on Cory Kovanda's two-run triple. Stephen's doubled in Kovanda to close the book on Dupra.

Notre Dame did plate a pair of runs off of Wosoliansky in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior David Mills drew a two-out walk and senior Matt Grosso followed with a single. Mills was running on the pitch and came around to score when the Ohio State centerfielder mishandled the ball for an error. Scioscia then doubled home Grosso to cut the Irish deficit to 8-2.

The Irish return to action tomorrow morning with their third game from the 2010 Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge. Notre Dame faces Penn State at the Naimoli Complex. First pitch is slated for 10:00 a.m. Senior Eric Maust will get the starting nod for the Irish.
