NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The University Notre Dame (31-23, 10-14 BIG EAST) has earned the No. 7 seed in the 2013 BIG EAST Baseball Championship at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. The Irish will play the No. 2 seed Seton Hall at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The Pirates (36-17, 18-6 BIG EAST) dropped one series all season in league action and it came against Notre Dame. The Irish took two of three from Seton Hall in South Bend over the opening conference weekend.

Notre Dame will then play either the winner or loser, depending on its result against Seton Hall, of the No. 3 seed Pittsburgh and No. 6 seed St. John's tilt at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Thursday.

The Irish have qualified for the BIG EAST tournament 17 times over its 18 years in the league. Notre Dame captured five consecutive tournament titles from 2002-06. The Irish also finished as the tournament runner-up in 1996 and '98.

Notre Dame owns an all-time mark of 34-25 in tournament action.

The Irish have had five players named BIG EAST tournament Most Valuable Player. The first Notre Dame player to earn the award was Steve Stanley ('02). Javi Sanchez followed in '03, Matt Macri in '04, Matt Edwards in '05 and Wade Korpi in '06.

Fans can still purchase tickets. Complete books to all 15 potential games are available, as well as single day tickets. Online information can be found at http://www.bigeast.org/Sports/Baseball/2013BaseballChampionship.aspx.

The double-elimination round games will be carried live on ESPN3 and BigEastBaseball.com. Sunday's final will be televised at noon ET on ESPNU.

The May 26 Big East Championship final will be televised live on ESPNU, marking the eighth straight year in which the title game will be carried live on the ESPN family of networks.
