    Garrity Named GTE Academic All-American

    University of Notre Dame senior forward Pat Garrity was named the GTE Academic All-American on Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America and was also named first team GTE Academic All-American.

    Garrity has been on the first team for the past two years and is a three-time academic all-district pick. Garrity is a pre-professional major in science and carries and overall grade point average of 3.68.

    Garrity was joined on the first team by Michael Doleac of Utah, Matt Harpring of Georgia Tech, T.J. Lux of Northern Illinois and Corey Reed of Radford.

    Garrity scored a total of 2,085 points during his Irish career to be the third-leading in school history. He has been named a second team All-American by the Associated Press and Sporting News and was named third team by Basketball Weekly.
