“We added Liam to the roster as a walk-on because we needed more perimeter practice players for the blue team. In practice, Gibbs, Farrell and Pflueger are on the floor together a lot and I just didn’t like having three big guys together on the blue team. He gives us another perimeter guy who can help us flow offensively and more in tune with the way we play.”


HIGH SCHOOL


  • Standout guard for Benet Academy during his freshman and senior high school years, helping them to a runner up finish in the Illinois Class 4A tournament in 2014.
  • Averaged 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior.
  • Earned three varsity letters in basketball along with one in baseball.
  • 2014 East Suburban Catholic All-Conference selection.
  • 2014 Chicago Tribune Scholar-Athlete.
  • Helped the 2014 Benet Academy baseball team win the 2014 East Suburban Catholic Conference championship.

  • Son of Joe and Katie Nelligan.
  • Joe Nelligan (1986) was a two-time captain and four-year letterwinner for the Notre Dame tennis team.
  • Has three brothers and three sisters.
  • Family has deep ties to the University of Notre Dame, as grandfather John Keyes (1958), father Joe (1986), brother Andrew (2011), brother Matthew (2013), uncle Kevin Keyes (1990), uncle John Breen (1985) and uncle Johnathan Kronstein (1990) are all Notre Dame graduates.
  • Aunt Karen Robinson Keyes is a 1991 Notre Dame graduate and two-time Midwestern Conference Player of the Year for the Irish women’s basketball team.
  • Sister, Tess, is a junior at Notre Dame.
  • Enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business with a major in finance.
