SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Luke Harangody scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half, leading Notre Dame to a 28-point halftime lead en route to a 74-50 victory over The Citadel on Sunday.

Russell Carter added 14 points for the Irish (3-1), Luke Zeller scored 12, Colin Falls had 11 points and seven rebounds and Rob Kurz had 10 points and seven rebounds. Donny McClendon led The Citadel (1-4) with 16 points and J'mel Everhart scored all 12 of his points in the second half.

Notre Dame grabbed control from the start, jumping to a 21-3 lead. Kurz and Harangody had back-to-back three-point plays during the run, then Falls hit a 3-pointer. The Irish ended the half on a 10-0 run, to take a 40-12 lead.

The half was so lopsided that Harangody, who played only 11 minutes in the half, outscored The Citadel 16-12. He was 7-of-8 shooting while the Irish scored 24 points inside and the Bulldogs, who just 21.7 percent, had just four points inside.

The 12 first-half points were the fewest points allowed by Notre Dame since Mike Brey became coach in 2000. The Citadel turned the ball over 11 times in the half.

The Citadel outscored the Irish 38-34 in the second half, shooting 44 percent in the half. They also outscored the Irish inside 16-10 in the half.
