Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey Quotes

On the team's focus after exam week...
"We've been really focused and sharp, starting on Wednesday, going through Friday. We played the way we practiced. I talked to them and told them that can't be an excuse, they have to be ready. They don't have class anymore, they don't have any worries, so they can just be basketball players."

On the offense's production ...
"When you score 94 points and have 22 assists, that's an unselfish and efficient offense. Last week was a defining moment for this team, but it was also a defining week for Russ [Carter] especially, and something to capitalize on."

On leadership during Colin Falls' absence ...
"Colin does more than just shoot the ball; he's kind of a calming presence on us. All of the sudden when he's not out there, Russ took over for that, and Kyle [McAlarney] took over for some of that, and Kurz did some of that. Those guys can and will get more experience at leading while Falls is out."

Elon Head Coach Ernie Nestor

On Notre Dame's quick start ...
"Obviously it is [something to avoid] because they are going to be a team that is very difficult to come back against. We don't have the type of team that is capable of doing that. First off they are an excellent basketball team. They really have great purpose. If you are not playing them they are a fun team to watch. They are very unselfish and share the basketball. Their big guys hurt us inside tonight. We just could not clear the ball off the defensive end. That was the key to the game for us. When you stop a team and force a miss and they get the ball back its very hard to compete. If this happens you have to shoot an incredible percentage on the other end to overcome it."

On senior G/F LeVonn Jordan's shooting ...
"He had a couple good games then he got cracked in the head and we were forced to shut him down for 10-12 days. We tried to play him after a couple days of practice but his conditioning is just not there. His conditioning is probably at 75-to-80 percent, so that something he's going to have to build back up. You can see he is an all-around player and we depend on him to do so many things for us right now. "

On the play of freshman PG Devan Carter ...
"I will say that I was pleased with the play of Devan Carter. This is the best game he's had at running a team and executing on the offensive end. He should some real growth tonight."
