Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey

Opening Statement...
"I thought that we were really smart offensively in the second half as well as did a great job of controlling the tempo. We were concerned about their fast breaks, but I don't think they got many. It's great to go 1-0 in the BIG EAST, but we have to play an undefeated team (Syracuse) on Saturday."

On tonight's game...
"We really played like men tonight. As a coach, you like to have an older team because they focus really well and they're very hungry to start conference games off the right way. I thought that we got stops at key times too. We like to get to the foul line and we were able to do that tonight."

On Ty Nash...
"I thought that Ty was playing really confident and he had gotten quite a few guys in foul trouble. He was at the top for a while running the point and he even handled it in transition tonight. They (Georgetown) were really aware of our shooters so it's important to allow Ty to try and make some plays when he's one-on-one. He missed a couple shots, but it's so great when he plays with such confidence."

On Scott Martin...
"I pulled him aside during shoot around today and reminded him that this was his first BIG EAST game. He was really excited, but really anxious as well. He hasn't played in the league yet, but has watched it for two years. He did a very good job on (Austin) Freeman tonight as he guarded him in the first half and kept him out of his rhythm. He is just a great basketball player on both sides of the floor. He takes a charge, gets big rebounds, and now he's taking the ball out of bounds because he is such a smart player. I am really happy for him today."

Notre Dame Players

Tim Abromaitis - Senior - Forward
On spreading the scoring around to everyone...
"We really passed the ball around well tonight. When we are moving around, and playing unselfishly like we have all year, we are a very tough team to defend. Spreading the scoring around like that really helps our cause in winning games, so that is what we are going to do."

On Notre Dame's defense against the Hoyas...
"I think the biggest key for us was containing their three point shooters. We know that they are a great shooting team, and they have proven that all year. So coming into the game tonight we really wanted to get out on them, really hug them around the perimeter and not allow them to have any easy looks that jumpstart their offense. It was a total team effort tonight defensively."

Tyrone Nash - Senior - Forward
On being a focal point in the second half...
"We really got them in foul trouble early in the first half, so we really just wanted to re-establish that and keep being aggressive. After I got a few fouls early in the first half I thought it was important to get back into the flow of the game early in the second half. I have to stay aggressive and play my game. "

On the expectations of beating Georgetown...
"We expect to win every game. Honestly, every game. With this group of guys we should win every game, but we have to keep coming out here, working hard, staying aggressive, playing defense and get better. Who knows what will happen if we keep getting better."

On the crowd at Purcell Pavilion tonight...
"It was great. I think we could definitely get used to that. It was really nice. It got really loud in there today. It was awesome, I think I even saw the media table shaking over there because it was so loud. It was great. I hope they keep that going."

Ben Hansbrough - Senior - Guard
On the teams' focus coming into the game...
"We really set the tone early to come out and be focused early, and we really wanted to impose our will on people tonight. We just really wanted to increase our focus. I think it was our focus and our will to win that won us the game tonight. We are just so efficient, which always helps you win games."

On the physicality of the Georgetown game...
"Well this is a very physical league. This is not a boy's league. The BIG EAST is a men's league. The officials were great tonight keeping everything under control, and at the same time letting the game flow. It's the BIG EAST, so you go into the game expecting a physical battle."

Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III

On Georgetown's shooting...
"Our shooting, particularly in the first half in combination with our foul trouble certainly caused problems, but you do have to give their defense credit. Everything was contested and they did a good job. It seemed like once we started to miss, it began to snowball. "

On the small details making a big difference...
"We had some mistakes in this game that we haven't had and we aren't going to have in the future. Again, I have to give them the credit for their actions, but to say we are out of sync probably would be accurate and we have to take care of that. This is not the time to be out of sync."

On being out-rebounded...
"I think a lot of that snowballed as well. I think we had some bad bounces. There would be times we had three of our guys right there, the effort was there, but a bad bounce would happen; but that's the nature of the game. Those are things going into this game that we talked about. We knew we had to limit their second-chance points."

Georgetown Players

Chris Wright - Senior - Guard
On having a tough start to the game...
"I had no indication that I was going to be off today. It was one of those days. I had a few open looks that I thought would go in, but the shot didn't come off right and the ball didn't go in the basket. It was tough and it was something we had to deal with, but we have to move on because we have another game on Saturday."

On whether poor shooting can carry over to the second half...
"Yes, you could say that because we also didn't shoot well in the second half. Sometimes it goes that way. We take a lot of shots and we have been fortunate that our first 12 games that those shots were going in and they will continue to go in."

On how tough the BIG EAST Conference is...
"It is a tough conference. That means you have to come ready to play every game. That is just how it goes and there are enough veterans on our team to know that one loss isn't going to break us. We will get back to practice tomorrow and look at the film to see what we need to do."

Julian Vaughn - Senior - Forward
On having a strong start to the second half...
"When you're down at the half it is important to come out ready to go. I was trying to bring energy to the team by making plays and creating stops."

On Georgetown's defense...
"We allowed too many open looks, three-point shots and second chance-shots. The main things we need to do are watching the film and learn from our mistakes. This is only one game and we play again on Saturday, so we can't dwell on it."
