Notre Dame, Ind. - For the second time this season, Luke Harangody (Schererville, Ind.) has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. Harangody earns the honor after averaging 30.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in Notre Dame's wins over Providence and DePaul last week as the Irish remained in second-place in the conference standings.

Harangody scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Notre Dame's 81-74 overtime win against the Friars. He played a season-high 34 minutes in the contest, hitting 11-22 shots from the field and connected on nine of 10 free-throw attempts. He followed that up by scoring 29 points and grabbing 14 rebounds against DePaul in the Irish 89-80 victory.

Harangody leads the Irish in scoring (20.4) and rebounding (10.0) and tops the conference in both of those categories averaging 24.4 and 11.6, respectively. He currently owns an 18-game double-figure scoring streak that is the longest of his career. He has scored 20-plus points and grabbed 10-plus rebounds in 11 games. In addition, Harangody leads the team with 11 double-doubles.

During Notre Dame's current three-game win streak he has averaged 28.3 points and 12.7 rebounds. The Irish have a 16-4 record overall and 6-2 mark in BIG EAST in league play.

Donte Greene of Syracuse was named the league's rookie of the week, while A.J. Price (Connecticut), Roy Hibbert (Georgetown), Lazar Hayward (Marquette), Brian Laing (Seton Hall) and Paul Harris (Syracuse) were selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.

In addition to being selected BIG EAST Player of the Week twice this season, Harangody has appeared on the honor roll on three occasions.
