NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey announced today that sophomore Alex Dragicevich (Northbrook, Ill.) will transfer from the University and will no longer be a member of the Irish basketball program. Dragicevich will finish out the remainder of the school year at the University until the end of the spring semester.

The 6-7, 221-pound guard played in all 34 contests during the 2011-12 campaign and made 10 starts while averaging 6.6 points and 1.8 rebounds. One of several perimeter shooters on the Irish roster, Dragicevich connected on 39.2 percent of his shots from the field (85-201) and was 34.2 percent (40-117) from three-point range. He scored in double figures in seven outings for the Irish that included a career-high 22-point effort against Pittsburgh in the BIG EAST opener on Dec. 27, 2011, a 72-59 victory. For his performance in that contest, he earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 2, 2012.

In 47 career outings in which he played, Dragicevich averaged 5.2 points and 1.6 rebounds.

"I am sorry to see Alex leave our basketball program, but I fully support his decision to transfer to another school," head coach Mike Brey said. "Alex has been a terrific representative of our basketball program and always has conducted himself with a great deal of class. My staff, players and I, in addition to our entire Notre Dame basketball family, wish Alex nothing but the best as he continues his playing career at another institution."
