    NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The 2014 Notre Dame Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Classic, presented by Four Winds Resort & Casino, will be held Monday, Aug. 4 at the Blackthorne Golf Club in South Bend, Ind. Former NBA and United States Naval Academy great David Robinson will be in attendance as the special VIP guest.

    For the 11th year, Irish men's basketball coach Mike Brey will serve as honorary co-chair of this event. He and his wife Tish have partnered with the American Cancer Society to raise more than two million dollars to support the fight against cancer in the South Bend/Michiana over the past 14 years.

    Golfers and foursomes enjoy a unique, upscale golf scramble at one of the premier golf courses in Indiana, complete with a round of golf, including greens frees and carts as well as lunch and dinner and giveaways and apparel. Festivities begin at 10:00 am with registration and lunch served until the noon shotgun start. An awards ceremony and dinner will follow the 18 holes of golf.

    The Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Classic will tip off with a Silent Auction Reception on Sunday, August 3 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Four Winds Field at The Cove. Each registered golfer Golfers and guests will have opportunity to bid on high-end sports memorabilia and experiences. The reception will feature heavy appetizers and a complimentary beer and wine bar and cash liquor bar. Tickets bought at the door for the Silent Auction Reception will be available for $50.

    Robinson, nicknamed "The Admiral," and regarded as one of the greatest centers in both college and NBA history, played all 14 seasons in the NBA win the San Antonio Spurs. His son, Corey, currently is a wide receiver on the Fighting Irish football team. During his illustrious career, Robinson led the Spurs to two NBA crows and was named was named league MVP, Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. A 10-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner (1992 and 1996), he was twice inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (2009 for his individual career and 2010 as a member of the 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team).
