"Coffee With Coaches" Brochure
May 22, 2014
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey will be part of a head-coaching panel on Monday, June 16 at 7:30 am (CT) at the Willis Tower's Metropolitan Club (233 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago, Ill.) to benefit the Chicago chapter of the national nonprofit organization Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). Northwestern University's football coach Pat Fitzgerald and men's basketball coach Chris Collins along with DePaul women's soccer Erin Chastain will join Brey at the "Coffee with Coaches" breakfast event.
The panel discussion is designed to provide insight, advice and stories on the power of sports. PCA is committed to developing Better Athletes, Better People through youth and high school sports.
In keeping with the Double-Goal Coach® training that PCA provides in its workshops for youth and high school sports coaches - where one goal is winning and the more important goal is life lessons through sports - Brey, Fitzgerald, Collins and Chastain will discuss their personal experiences pursuing both of those goals.
Dave Revsine of the Big Ten Network will moderate the panel. PCA Founder and CEO Jim Thompson will also speak on the importance of positive coaching role models in young athletes' lives.
"We are very lucky to have such great role models like Fitz, Collins, Brey and Chastain in this region so we can learn from them on a daily basis," said PCA-Chicago Chapter Executive Director Jason Sacks. "PCA is thrilled that this exceptional group of coaches will take time out of their busy schedules to speak to area coaches, parents and business leaders at our breakfast event. Those in attendance will surely benefit from their wealth of knowledge and advice."
PCA-Chicago currently partners with over 70 schools and youth sports organizations in the area, in which they present live workshops and online courses for their coaches, parents and student-athletes. Workshop and course content, companion books by Jim Thompson and follow-up e-communications all contain research-based sport psychology and educational psychology, plus tips and advice from elite coaches, athletes and sports and business leaders on a National Advisory Board that also includes PCA's National Spokesperson, former Bulls Head Coach Phil Jackson.
