NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Less than 48 hours after defeating Miami-Ohio 74-62 in its season opener, Notre Dame returns to the floor to take on Stetson at 1 p.m. (ET) on Sunday. Head coach Mike Brey's squad will face this type of turnaround five times during the November-December non-conference slate so tomorrow's contest against the Hatters will certainly ready the Irish for what they will encounter in the upcoming weeks.

Despite the quick turnaround, Notre Dame is anxious to get back on the floor. There was an air of disappointment in the Irish locker room last night following the game as some players were not happy with their performances and felt that they could have done more to help the team. Notre Dame's veteran unit was looking for everyone to play well at both ends of the floor, but that just didn't happen. Credit Miami for putting game pressure on the Irish all night. What could have materialized into a blowout after Notre Dame jumped out to a 16-point lead with 9:46 to play in the first half never did as the RedHawks hung around all night long.

As did most of the college basketball world, Stetson opened up the 2013-14 campaign on Friday night as the Hatters dropped a 71-51 decision to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson. Stetson, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, had just two players in double figures and shot just 34.7 percent (17-49) from the field and 28.6 percent (6-21) from three-point range.

Notre Dame had four players in double figures on Friday night and the Irish were led by senior guard Jerian Grant's career-high 26-point effort. Grant played 36 minutes in the contest and connected on a career-high nine field goals on 14 attempts and finished five-for-eight from three-point range. His five three-pointers matched a personal best.

The Irish shot 50.0 percent (26-52) from the field and 47.6 percent (10-21) from three-point range. Notre Dame went to the charity stripe 15 times in the contest and made 12 of those attempts, good for 80.0 percent. The Irish were called for 17 fouls in the game as the RedHawks finished 14-of-19 from the line.

Notre Dame's passing efficiency once again was on display last night as the Irish dished off 21 assists on 26 made baskets and committed just seven turnovers. They also had nine steals in the game.

Following Sunday afternoon's tilt, the Irish return to action next Sunday when they play host to Indiana State at noon.

    A SURPRISE FROM FRIDAY NIGHT
Friday night saw 14 ACC teams open up their respective seasons with the league finishing 11-3. Boston College dropped an 82-78 overtime decision to Providence on the road and Maryland lost a 78-77 thriller to No. 18 Connecticut at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. But the real surprise of the night came out of Coral Gables, Fla., where defending ACC champion Miami dropped a 66-62 decision to St. Francis (NY).

    ATKINS NEARING 1,000-POINT MILESTONE
Senior Eric Atkins is nearing the 1,000-point mark in his career. Heading into Sunday's contest, the Irish point guard has 987 career points and needs just 13 more to become the 54th player in the 109-history of the program to reach that plateau.
